When we pay a visit to some of the centres, we find instructions written at the entrance of the visitor's room. It says; Please leave your mobile phone outside. Please switch off your mobile phone before entering the hall. Do not bring your mobile phone and disturb the proceedings.
Of course, for some the use of mobile phone may be a convenience, but for some it becomes a disturbing factor.
What do you think about it?

i think your discussion title is inappropriate for it's content. but anyways, of course, if you have respect to your fellowmen, you won't do anything that will disturb them. and that includes having your phone ringing to it's maximum volume in a conference. you don't want to end up being dragged out of the room for annoying them with your "amplified ringtone"! =D

Hi there, Mobile phone ringtones can be an irritating factor at times. Wherever silent is desired, ringing of the phone can cause disturbance. In examination hall, seminars, lectures and so many other place, mobile phones should be totally banned. If allowed, people must have common sense to turn it on silent or switch it off.

Mobile phones might be bad for many reasons: they are disturbing, distracting, harmful to health, addicting, etc. But in case of emergency to get in touch with each other they are helpful and life saving. So we have to use or not use mobile phones according to the situation.

i think that phones are sometimes distraction when they are not turned into silent mode especially when we are busy at work or in the library. They say we must also turn our phones off especially when we are near or in a gas station because it may blow us up. I just heard that from somewhere.

I gave the cell phone up over 2 years due to the fact that my work quality suffered. I was always checking when it rang and was texting too much as well.
I don't think everyone should give them up but for me I would rather be successful without a cell phone attached to me. I use to work in the cell phone industry but left for the greener grass/pasture.
I now work in an industry that other departments are dependent on them where as in the department I work in has several land line phones and that is what I use.
My life is easier without the ring of a cell phone and couldn't be happier about that.

Try to live without a cell phone for a year, im doing it currently im about 7 months in trying to get a cellphone. cellphones can be bad for you but think of all the good they do. Without them people would not be able to reach you if they were trying to find you and if you were ever in need of anything, like you had gotten stuck somwhere or somthing you wouldent be able to call anyone to come and help you.

Living without a cell phone , now a days, may not possible. However there is a need to minimise usage. You are living without a cell from 7 months, it is so great. I use cellphone, but I don't use it regularly. I only use it for calls receiving only, since I receive less calls. If I have call anybody I use landphone only. Thanks for sharing.

In our office we are not allowed to use our mobile phones.
We are instructed to put in a silent mode to avoid interruption with co-workers.
Mobile phones can be harmful due to radiation exposure but also helpful.

It is quite obvious reason that when ever you go somewhere you will find such restriction on use of mobile phones. The reason behind this is During meetings, office work, churches, or colleges school or any other educational or a work place mobile phone is strictly prohibited because it disturbs when ringing.. unnecessary disturbance if taken medically it may even damage your hearing due to continuous talk... So i gradually think that mobile phones should be turned on silent or switched off during your important work.

I think the worst part of cell phone use is that it's caused a disconnection of people and allowed them to be social without personal contact. With texting and social networking we can live in a fantasy world outside of our actual world. This has handicapped some peoples ability to be able to develop good communication skills. Technology is great for convenience, but we need to make more effort to interact with people in a physical setting to develop and grow our intelligence.
