In our town we have a lot of convenience stores that are owned and ran by Muslim or Arabic people. My boyfriend is caucasian, and he went into the store and asked if they had any open positions. The man told him they did not hire people outside of their own people and would not hire someone who is not Muslim. I find this unfair. I understand we are a nation made of many cultures, but if I owned a Christian book store and denied to hire a Muslim because of their beliefs, I would be slapped with lawsuits. Even naturally American born people of no beliefs would be ready to tear me a new tale-hole, so how is it fair for them to deny my boyfriend a job?

If he doesn't want to sue, he really should file a complaint. I can promise you that if he owned a store next door to theirs & one of their own needed a job & he refused to hire them for the exact same reason, they would have him in court so freakin fast it would make his head swim!!! He could actually force them to give him a job. I wouldn't want to get it that way, but I'd enjoy letting them know that it was MY decision to not take the job!!! Even if what he was told was the real reason he wasn't hired, it is ILLEGAL to say so!!! So, they have broken numerous laws & should be forced to make it right!!!!

I think he shrugged it off because he thinks all those guys are cool that work there. Really, despite if they tell you with a smile on their face you can't work there because of your race and beliefs, it is still insulting and rude. I don't like some things though, like the incense stuff they are selling, and people are smoking it to get high and having heart attacks. Some of these stores are selling bath salts that people are crushing up to snort... this stuff that is being sold in these stores are ridiculous to me. The only stores I have seen this stuff at are Arab and Muslim ran stores so far. I could care less if it was a White, Blue, or Green man running the store, I don't like to see stuff like that sold. Kids in highschool are trying this stuff, and probably younger. These stores in my area are becoming an issue to me.

I was sitting in the car when he went in to apply, I did not witness it firsthand. If I went in to apply, they would probably hire me because I am a pretty woman. They like pretty American woman ironically.

Tell your boyfriend to do somthing about that, its blatent racism. He can sue over that. Please tell him to becuse that issue isnt that spoken of , at all actualy. yet its a big problem just becuse they're from another country doesnt mean they can be racist like that. We have fought for years and years to stop racism, it still excists but not to the degree it does 100 evan 50 years ago.
Please tell him that, he should stand up for himself. No one ever does anymore.

I actually tried to tell him the same thing, but he said that would make him as bad as everyone else who is trying to sue just to make some cash. My point is not to sue for the money, but just the point its not fair we are expected to be one way in this country, why are outsiders who come in don't follow the same expectations.

Tell him not to do it for the money but do it for the cause, and i totaly agree why cant people follow our rules when they come into this country, they never seem to. If i were head of imigration i would make sure that everyone knew english and understood the rules of this country. This is why america is just flooded with imigrants, its becomeing a real problem.

In my country this kind of attitude from the employer would immediately be labelled as racist, and it should be everywhere in the world, since we're all humans after all, regardlessof the colour of the skin of religoius beliefs or any other citeria,so it's totally unfair from them to deny your friend the right to a job.I hope he will find it somewhere else where people havev a different and sound judgement.

In the U.S. people are sued for this kind of behavior, and really they could get in a lot of trouble.

i think there would be a legal action against that. it s indeed a case of racism.
just imagine if it was the other way around. the company is ran by caucasians, and this fellow went to apply for a job and got denied because of his race or belief. what would he do then? would he not run to his leader and get some help?

It is a mess! People are blind-sided about racism. They do not see that caucasians go through racism as well. I have experienced it in church, on the job, school... it is ridiculous.

what a shame. me being a black woman i totally feel your anguish. its a crying shame that racism is still so prevalent in our society today. but then again, when did it ever stop...some may sweep it under the rug or pretend, however its converted into other cultures in our own homeland. now yeah a lawsuit would be a great idea. good luck with that but i believe theyll run away before they are actually brought into a courtroom.

It should not exist, we as a country have done a lot to minimize it as much as possible. I know it still does because the last two jobs I worked at, I experienced racism against me, and I'm caucasian. Where I live, people are racist against every other group than themselves, and I think it is dumb. I spent my childhood in a place that was heavily military populated, so I am use to all kinds of people. Where I live now, the businesses are starting to be ran by foreigners, and in my opinion we should not have to worry about foreigners not giving natives jobs. That is why our country is in trouble now because we cannot find jobs, are jobs are sent overseas, and if everyone overseas comes and takes jobs here, our government will continue to lose out when they pay for all the natives unemployment and welfare.
