Tertiary has been seen as way to get successful in life. They say as long as you have a degree. opportunities will knock at your door. In my country most who graduate never get the chance to practice the profession they studied for. A few of those who are really successful ventured through business and marketing with only a high school diploma. I for one know a person who was only a high school graduate who took the civil service examination and passed and now earning more than those who have a college degree. I just want to know if you guys still see the value of a college degree?

In our country, for you to be able to get an office job, you must be a graduate of tertiary education. Those who are undergraduate could also land jobs , but usually they are jobs that pays so much lesser than those office jobs. Though, there are a lot of successful people who don't even have a college diploma but still prosper in life. It's just determination to succeed in life, coupled with industriousness and good strategies in life, that you must always have with you.

I don't think that any degrees necessarily means a good job nowadays. Still, I think the experience and knowledge a student gains while going to school is very valuable, so much that even if it doesn't guarantee a good job, it is still good to go to college. I read a lot about college graduates who cannot find jobs and I also worry about the job prospects when I graduate but I do not regret going to college because of all I learned.

I think have a college degree is still important to have in your background, just in case you don't find that perfect high paying job that doesn't require one to have a college degree. Also, some positions in life are specialize positions that definitely require a college degree. If you have the degree, you will have a healthy safety net. So, better to have than not.

I still believe it is important... It somehow gives a graduate an edge from the rest; the next thing that one has to do is to really perform his responsibilities so that he gets promoted and reach his goals.

I think its still important but building up skills is more important now. There seems to be more and more companies who are looking for skilled workers in some areas and mostly has something to do with field work. There are also skills that you can have that will allow you to have your own business. So if you have both tertiary education and skills, you got the edge.

I would say that a Tertiary diploma is still a better option than not having one... Because nothing beats earning "knowledge". But I know what you mean when you say that more often, people really do not really practice the titles that they have earned. And in giving light to a different fact of life, for most people having good jobs, getting the job was a result derived from VERY GOOD and PERSUASIVE recommendations from families and friends rather than acquiring it from his or her own merits. That's Life!

I agree with much of what you said and I have also made the same observation. A college degree may not be the only ticket to success. It is one's attitude and perseverance. I do notice that many college graduates do not follow what they had learned in school. Many of them pursue other paths so the college degree just goes down the drain. I think we should not place too much importance of college degrees since a lot of successful people never even reach first year college.

In my personal view, I think tertiary course is still important. However, it is not true that if you have diploma you have greater chances to be successful in life. These days everyone is in competition, may it be degree holder or not. Success varies how advance is your skills and knowledge on certain aspects. Plus your virtue as dedicated and determined worker. If you wanted to excel in fields which needs diploma then you need to do harder in tertiary. \You become successful on how you work things out.

Yes, it is still very important. However, success will not depend on the person's educational attainment. The reason behind having a tertiary education. is because a person could have wider and broader options to choose from after graduating. It is necessary to have tertiary education to land on a good position and a job. However, this may not apply in doing business. Business is different from employment. It all depends on the person whether or not to choose employment over business. If one is really devoted into the business and he/she has no tertiary education, he/she would become successful. In the end, it depends on the person's decision.

All formal education does is to teach you to think. It may give you a ticket to a job, but does not guarantee success in career. Those who take job specific exams are just recognised by the employer to be competent, so it is not any wonder why they are paid for passing it more than passing a college degree.

Tertiary education is really important. But many people made a mistake by thinking that their education ends when they have graduated with bachelors degree. We should still continue learning even though we have already graduated. In this life, one's success is dependent on his continues learning regardless of the highest formal education that we have achieve. Those who succeed took the lessons that they have learned through their experience and act accordingly to it.

Degree is definitely important to get into certain career roles, but not always. Anyone can earn money with their talent, a layman can build a strong business and get rich. Degree, what i feel, is for you to get some more respect along with the good earnings and also foundation for higher studies.

if you're up for employment, yes, your college degree will be a great advance..sadly, many, or almost all people are unemployed even if they had bachelor's degree. some fortunate get employed but their job is way too far from the course they studied for so many years..they don't realize the great opportunity entrepreneurship/marketing is offering.. if you are employed, you have your "BOSS"..but if you have your own business, "YOU ARE THE BOSS"!ü people send their children to school for them to study hard, get good grades, graduate, and get employed by entrepreneurs who just finished high school and ventured into business..ü i think, we should change our way of thinking.. =D

I still value higher education because as my parents told me education is the only WEALTH that they can bestow upon us. A wealth cannot be stolen by anyone. It is true that having a college degree cannot give you wealth, but it will give you a sense of fulfillment if you finished college and get a dream job you always wanted. A winner values higher education but knows that it will not give them riches.
