well...its a mysteriour disorder. see for it to get rid off is very difficult. first of all try to identify the factors, which can precipitate it. ok, try to avoid them. and try to live a routine lifestyle as far as possible. don't change ur habits, else it too can precipitate migraine, even constipation. go to toilet daily. and then, when u get an attack, i hope u know what to do. for prophylaxis u can take flunarazine( calcium channel bloker) 10 mg once daily for 3 months. else beta blockers r also useful, but can give u side effects..so feel free to ask me.

i take a hot!! bath as my mom told me to do that because it brings the blood out of your head and to the other parts of the body, and then i lay in a dark place after the bath.

I have heard that migraine is caused by some specific food itoms. Now , for , example , I get a migraine when I consume plenty of ground nuts. In our place we get these fresh ones and we can steam this and have it. It tastes like any other sprout. Besan dhal does not agree with some people and causes migraine. Chocolates and cashews[excessive consumption]may also cause this.
I found out that one of my cousins also has a migraine attack after consuming groundnuts. We take a bit of jaggery to counter this. It is the best antidote for groundnut intake. It must be consumed simultaneously.
I am writing all these stories to tell you that the problem/cause has to be identified. Then that particular thing can be avoided.
I get a severe head ache if I get up very early in the morning after sleeping late and travel the next day.
When there is a train to take or a flight to catch early in the morning, I take conscious efforts to take a sleeping tablet the previous night and go to bed early.
These are preventive measures.
Once you get the attack[I have really suffered during travel and I know how it is]You have no choice except to take painkillers, draw the curtains, [apply balm to your forehead]darken the room and and try to sleep.Only pain killers help.Mine is too stubborn to get away after a paracetamol and so I have some stronger aspirins or a tablet called NISE.

If you have health insurance, you might want to talk to your doctor about medications that you can take if you get migraines frequently. My doctor had my husband try a couple of medications that you take after the onset of a migraine and it stops the headache. You could try Excedrin migraine, but if your headaches are anything like my husband's, you might as well be taking a sugar pill. My husband gets terrible migraines. He will often take a hot bath, dip a wash cloth in the water, and put it over his face. Then he tries to sit in a dark room. I have extra dark curtains in my room for this reason so that the light doesn't hurt his eyes when he gets a migraine. If you feel really nauseous and it hurts to keep your eyes open, it's probably best to just lie down and try to sleep. Remember that if you have a headache that lasts for several days, you should seek medical attention as it could be a sign of a more serious health condition.
