I am a teacher in a virtual classroom. I want to know your ideas about dealing with a student which seems have a behavioral problem. He is not willing to study moreover ignores me during the class. I tried animations , colorful virtual sections, pictures of kids and nature in our class but he only give a glance on it. What should I do? I had a student similar to him before but this one is really giving pain on my neck.

Maybe the best thing to do is to talk with the student. Have some chitchat moments where he/she can loose a bit and open up to you. Maybe this kid have some personal problems that's why he/she's doing that. If it doesn't work then do some background checking. Ask the parents maybe, to get to know more about your student. Maybe from there you'll know how to deal with him/her again. Goodluck

I agree with your proposed method. you really can't get to the root of the rpoblem without actually knowing it first. talking to that particular student will help now the problem and help you establish rapport with this particular student. Teachers, like parents, can also hazard guesses when it came to students (whether they are children, teens or adults). take time to talk in a friendly and casual manner. You might learn about the student and his reasons.

Thank you pals! Exactly that's what I did. I tried to be friendly through chatting with him. I even open up my personal experience in studying. He was then keep silent and ignoring my friendly approach. Then when I had a talk with his previous teacher they said the he really didn't like to study. Even his parents were talked by our heads. The parents were forcing the student to study but now eventually losing hope to him, but I am not.

I don't know what a virtual classroom is, is it an online course or something? Speaking from experience, since I had my own problems as a student, I didn't really like going to class because I did my work on my own time and found that class discussions were just a waste of my time when I already learned what I needed to know from my textbooks. Some people just don't like classrooms, it's not your fault or anyone else's. In my perspective a good thing to do is ask what he's interested in. Ask him what he doesn't like about classes, and see things from his point of view. This way you can approach the situation with the most effective solutions.

Yes, a virtual classroom is an online course. We do the class through internet. Oh, I got your point and unfortunately I did it already and still futile. maybe he's just 1% of many kids who are unique and needed to be understood.

A kid who doesn't like animations? That is definitely something since most kids I know likes animations or anything colorful.

Exactly!! How come a kid doesn't like animations. I realized that he liked more on wood crafts not animations or kids stuff. Isn't it ironic.

Firstly, you must talk with the student, and find out why he doesn't like to listen to you. Then you can find the proper way to deal with him.
