Fish is a very healthy source of proteins as compared to other kinds of meat. But I have heard that in many countries it is very expensive, considering also that as it is lighter, it does not give you the "being full" feeling for so long. I eat less fish ithan I should because fish in my country (bathed by the Pacific Ocean) has grown scarce due to fishing too much . Many species that used to be unexpensive are now endagered species. I am now eating more salmon but they have some of the problems that arise when man gets into something. Do you eat fish at least once a week? What kind of fish do you eat? What´s your favorite fish? Share!

When I had a full kitchen, I tried to eat salmon at least once a week. I was going to buy some at a new grocery store, but it said on the package to not cook in a microwave. I was really disappointed because I love salmon! I remember when I was in Alaska we would go out and catch it and eat it the same day! That was so good and it was a lot of fun! Now I am limited to frozen product and since it says I can't use the cooking method I have available, I didn't buy any. I didn't look at the packaging on another frozen product I had bought and it said the same thing, but since I already had it at home, I zapped it for 10 minutes. I think that was a little to much because the end of it was dry, but at least I didn't waste it. Fortunately, I only bought four of those (chicken with broccoli and similar burrito type things). I don't know if maybe I should get one of the frozen fish packages and zap it anyway, even though it says not to. What do you think?

I will try that. It just really bothered me that the package said to not cook in the microwave. How long does it take to cook once it is thawed? I know if I cook it too long, it will dry out (like happened with the chicken thing I cooked the other day). Talk to you later.

I have made salmon in microwave ovens. I mean either fresh or frozen salmon. I salt and pepper it (not much salt), add a bit of lemon and place it in a plate (covered with another). I do not use plastics of any kind in microwave ovens as it is harmful. You can place cut up potatoes or yams on the side and your dish will be made in minutes.. Unfreeze the salmon beforehand. You can do that by placing it in a plactic bag and then in a pot under warm water. I don´t defrost anything in microwave oven as edges dry out. I´m sure your frozen fish will thaw in no time at all.

Hi marguicha I love salmon and mackerel,I eat fish about twice a week because I do not eat any other kind of meat. They say that oily fish suchas salmon, mackerel pilchards are good for our bodies,(not sure if that's true though),but they also say not to eat to much salmon, (not sure why),so I eat sarddines and pilchards, two days a week and have either salmon or mackerel on Sundays as a treat. Of course your also right about certain fish becoming scarce because of over fishing, I have cut down on the amount of fish I eat,I used to have fish at least five times a week, but now it is no more than three times in a week, the other days I have vegetarian meals. Have a great day. jojo 732

I my country there was a time not so long ago when they fished with machines to turn all into fishflour to feed animalsd. All kinds of fish went there and many species did not survive. I can´t understand How mankind can be so stupid!!!

I love fish! As the matter of fact, we just had yellowtail, salmon two days ago for lunch and tuna for dinner last night, we went to the fish store to get them and we still have some salmon in the freezer. It is certainly expensive, so we don't buy fish often for meals unfortunately... my husband catches lots of fish in the summer so we can have all we want fish, can't wait until he can fish! I don't think there is a kind of fish that I don't like... and I like it cooked in any kind of method!

I absolute do eat fish, cold water salmon, at least twice a week. I learned, from the Dr. Oz show, that cold water salmon is the best fish you can eat for a healthier heart among other important health benefits. He also suggested eating sardines, which I love, but not the smell; I just tolerate it.

Salmon is one of the healthiest fish, because of its omega 3 content. I saw a gooking show some months ago, where they fried the skin and served it on the side, to be eatd. I did it and it was yummy.

I wish I could. I am allergic to seafood of any kind. After having a cat scan in which they insert a dye into the veins prior to the test I had a anaphylactic shock in which I am forbidden to have any thing that contains seafood. Sadly I love the way many dishes look and smell but I can't. I probably should research alternative so that I can benefit from the nutrition without jeopardizing the allergic reactions. We go fishing every summer in Arkansas and if I get one on the fishing line I don't even touch the fish due to fear. But I would so love to eat them because the family sits and enjoys them. lol My boyfriends mother will not let me in the kitchen while she prepares them. She is afraid that the sight of them will hurt me somehow. lol

Hi HWG.. I had seafood allergies before during my childhood days but it's more on the skin. Every time I eat them, my hands become itchy (super itchy), same with other parts of my body. But due to the love for seafoods, I still eat even though how itchy my body could get. So now, my allergies are gone. And now, I can eat lots of seafoods without having any small feeling of itch. I think it made my body immune with seafoods that's why my allergies went away. Maybe you can seek your doctor if you can try it little by little.

I would love to but it might kill me. My experience during the anaphylactic was where my neck swelled, I could not breathe and I was in a paralyzed position for 12 full minutes. I was given an immediate benedryl shot and it was sooo scary. Luckily I was a pateint in the hospital when it happened because I would not have known what to do or could be able to do anything. So my friend with that type of experience I doubt I would experiment, one thing though my boyfriends mom makes either steak and or chicken while they eat fish. lol - so nice to be treated a bit special. *** disclaimer I love you Oma! ** Just wanted to make you smile and laugh.

In our family we have almost left eating meat, fish, chicken etc, even eggs, they are so costly, a kg of goat meat costs 300 rupees, fish around 200 rupees, broiler chicken 150 rupees and a single egg three and half rupees. second they give injections to goats for fast growth, the water in the river near our house is polluted, fish from there is not safe. so we go for vegetables mostly.. Thanks for sharing Happy posting, cheers. Namastey. Kalyani

I eat less meat than I did when I was young. But when I have meat, I eat more fish or chicken than red meat. I don´t usually eat goat meat. It is expensive here because people eat it a lot on barbecues for our Independence day. Thanks for answering!

I wish that I eat more fish than I do. I like salmon, but there are times here when it is very expensive. I don't always eat it once a week. I would like to implement more of it in my diet because it is so good for us. I like shellfish...like shrimp and crab.

Hi marguicha, I just can not say it out and out that fish is part of our normal diet. Personally speaking I am non vegetarian and I eat both fish and flesh I mean mutton or chicken. But the problem is my wide and my son are vegetarian. They eat eggs however. Still she does not mind cooking meat or fish whenever I bring them home. Two or three times fish and twice a week chicken is my usual diet. There are some exception also.

You are lucky that your wife cooks meat for you! I have friends that she is vegetarian and he isn´t. I have to invite him to my house so that the poor man can eat meat. My friend can´t even stand to look at raw meat!

I prefer to eat sustainably farmed fish. farming causes its own problems but it least it doesn't support unselective trawling which kills many non-target species.

I eat fish 7 nights a week! I adore fish... and when I say I eat it 7 nights a week, I mean in MASS quantities... like 14 ounces in a sitting, EVERY night, seriously. My current fishy obsessions: - Salmon (Belly, Skin, Fillets) - Hamachi (Collars) - Eel Fillets - Chilean Sea Bass - Sable Fish - Scallops (but I never cook them).

Fish is an important meat in my side. It is very normal for us to have it a few times every week. We like eating fish and we have different ways to cook it. We have the fish which raise in the pool or catch from the sea. Usually the fish from the sea will be expensive. It depends on. I love China

Funny that you should imply that the world's largest ocean is over fished! Now here, there isn't much at all! The Mediterranean sea is just about empty because of over fishing and most fish now comes from fish farms. Thank God, there are anchovies and sardines available. I normally eat them twice a week but sometimes in stormy weather, the boats don't go out so they are not available. The smallest fish are the tastiest although gutting and cleaning them is a chore! When there are 120 or more fish in one kilogram, it really is hard work. Occasionally, I eat squid or octopus. My favorite seafood are mussels but they definitely don't come from the Mediterranean! The only shell fish here are sea urchins which I have never eaten yet. It is only recently that I saw a cooking program on TV that showed how to prepare sea urchins, so I waiting to try them.

I am saying, not implying, that men have fished the ocean until the fish is scarce. Exactly the opposite. Urchins are very good. have a go at them!

We don't eat fish very often at home. To be honest I am unable to cook or fry or do anything with it, because when it's raw it smells terrible (to me). I have been thinking lately to buy some frozen package of fish fillet, already cleaned before packing, but I never dare to. I love tuna, but I eat it from cans.

Yes, I eat fish and I love them. Seafoods are on top of my favorites. I seldom eat fish though because of the time schedule during workdays. So most probably, I eat them on weekends where we the time to go to the market. At times, we go spend the weekends in my home town and my mom used to buy lots of seafoods because it's god for my thyroid. So I really love going home for some time.

Hi Maruicha, I eat fish twice a week, roughly. It is very lucky for us to live in the seaside area.We could eat seawater fish and fresh water fish at the same time,I love the fresh water fish better. The source of fish has been pretected well and there are many fishes here.I hope that will situation will continue.

I´m glad the fish has been protected in your area. Unfortunatly in my country they started to protect fish when some species were endangered. Some decades ago all people, even the very poor, could eat fish in my country. Now it is a rather expensive meal for many. I eat fish or seafood at least once a day.
