Dear all, I have a question as to what will be the decision taken if the following two situations happen on a cricket field. As to my knowledge, it has never happened. But what if it happens?????????? HUH...!!!! SITUATION 1 A batsman hits the ball bowled to him in the air. The ball hits the Umpire and lobs up in the air for a catch. A fielder takes it. What will be decision. Will the batsman be given out?? Or will it be called a dead ball? Or is there any other way to handle this?? SITUATION 2 A chasing team needs one run to win of the last ball with one wicket remaining. But the batsman jumps out, the bowler bowls it down the leg side, The batsman gets stumped. The Umpire calls the ball a wide. Now what will happen here?? Does the match end up in a tie, Or does the chasing team win??? So can any one tell me what the correct decisions will be??? Interesting situations eh??? Share your views... Balu.

Situation 1: Decision is out Situation 2: The chasing team wins, as the chasing team gets 1 run for a wide.

well friend in the first situation the batsman will be given out and in the second situation the team which is batting wins but in both cases there are some conditions specially in the second case.

Situation 1 is OUT for sure,if that ever happens at all. Situation 2 is the chasing team win because they already get the winning run in the form of wide, even though the batsman is out.

Well both questions are very interesting but as you know, Justice is blind so in first opinion batsman will be given "out". In the second situation whatever happen decision will goes to umpire first decision what he will give first "Wide" or "out" will decide the game. Which means if he give wide first than Chasing team will win otherwise if he given out first than the chasing team will loose. :D lol
