Yesterday Memoirs of Geisha was telecast on the telly and I sat and watched it yet again for the Nth time and as usual was in tears when the movie got over ( I don't cry easily) . The film never fails to make me get all emotional - it is so touching and romantic. The acting, the story and the whole treatment is superb, a perfect film in every respect....Earlier , I hadn't known that Steven Spielberg was one of the producers of this absolutely beautiful and sensitive film. The sets are like paintings , picture post card perfect.....I can go on and on about this film ..
Friends , what are your views and opinions of this film, please share here...)

I was reading a japanese novel translated into English where there is a reference to geisha girls. There they recount the difficulties they go through and it is quite sad. But, some do become very successful and rich and have a good time no doubt...thanks a lot for sharing your views, happy mylotting

the little girl in the movie who played the young Sayuri, You know the little girl at the start of the movie is already a famous teen actress in Japan, cant you believe it that time runs fast. i thought the little girl in the movie have real blue eyes but she actually wear contact lenses.I found out that she doesn't speak English and the reason why she is able to act in English is that she learned her script phonetically.

If you seen this film 9th time than, it must be a great film. You are busy one if you spare time to see this than it must have some thing special. I don't see too much english films, I see some films from which some are technicaly good and some is horror films like B and C grade hindi films. I like hindi films too much. Some great films are also in hindi. Are you don't like hindi films.

Hi anil, I haven't seen it nine times as yet!I like films in every language. I dont mind watching a good film in any language as long as it has sub titles. I am great fan of old hindi films. But I hardly watch any of the new films. The last I watched was 3 idiots and before that Parineeta and Ekalavya. So you can guess how many new films I watch . I like Western films too and I watch them frequently on the Tv when I am free at night, mostly during the weekend...Tonight I am planning to watch an old hindi film Anupama which I have already seen a couple of times..

I want to see some new films of my tast like No one killed Jasika Lal. If you like old films are you see Nutan and Balraj Sahni starer Seema. If you not see it than see it. Person like me understand it. I think it is good topic on which we can share our views.

hello Kiran8
i had seen this movie long time ago when it was released but after that i havn't. after reading ur post and other's discussions it made me think again to watch it as i had a poor experience of watching it at 1st time. i went with my friends in cinema hall but ended up making silly comments and criticizing it since the start, though we had a good fun n laugh. it might be because i am more into action n comedy. But i will watch it again and let you know if it changes my opinion or still remains same

I love this movie too- even though it went on for so long, I didn't even get tired of watching it.. Since I was so interested on how the main character's life was going to turn out.. The actors were very good too- I loved the trainings of geisha too. I hope more movies like this would be made, a good story, narration and acting..

i also like that movie and watched it a lot of times too. I admire the girl for trying hard to reach her goal and that is for the chairman to notice and love her. Maybe i am going to look up my dvd copy of the movie anytime soon.

Hey Kiran, I watched this movie probably a year ago.It indeed conveyed a good message. I got emotional when the little Geisha promises to be the best Geisha one day and serve her master. The art work in this movie is fabulous. The leading lady is pretty and she acted quite well. It is one of those old movies which are never too late to watch.

I actually like that film . I have seen it maybe 4 years ago, I cant remember when but I was amazed my it. Not only with the fact that it was Zhang Ziyi who played the major role but the story was cool. I think the book is more detailed than the movie. Too bad I didnt have the chance to read it.
