I watched it when I was very young, 5 or 6, thinking it was a true story, and Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater were real people. It just looked so convincing to me, when they found the ship and looked for the lady in the picture. I even looked for Jack's name in the encyclopedia. But after 13 years I found out their love story was just fiction. I was so shocked...even my mm thought it was a real story... silly me.

Yes, that is what convinced me too- since they had an old lady to tell the story and everything... But then when I rewatched it a few years back, I was confused why old Rose had a different name, but just didn't mind it.

The titanic story is real- just not the love story of James Cameron. Do people earn or have points in Yahoo answers or is is just for information and fun purposes?? i saw people talking about points and stuff..when they get best response.

Well, at least now you know the truth... The movie was still very good even though it was fiction- and it did look real seeing the old Rose telling the story and with the pictures and all.. James Cameron is just a good director and writer

Yes I am also glad that now I know that it isn't real..it is better to know the truth later than never I am a fan of James Cameron, and he really did well with this movie.

hahaha awww. I think the fact that they wernt real was why I didnt like it in the first place. also i'm not a leo fan either. Its annoying when you find things like that out after you believed something else. I thought that the blair witch project was real for about 3 years after I watched it. Wouldnt have been so scary if I'd have known the truth

I think I would still love the movie even if it was just fiction becasue I love story and the setting, and Leo. But it was quite a shock for me to know about it.. But yes, watching a "real" horror story makes it so much scarier. That's why some say based n true events..

Well, we all have to wake up and see the truth someday. to be honest, I thought the picture of that woman was true either and most specially the jewel. but there are rumors of five people who got stuck in the ICE parts in the antartic was found and being revived. but that information was never proven.

Yes, I was grateful I knew the truth now. I thought the picture and the jewel was real too- that's why it was s disappointing when she threw it away. Thanks for your response.

Hi lady1993, I absolutely loved Titanic and each and every character depicted in this movie. I can understand your state of shock after realising the story was fiction because the love story seemed so real in the movie. I absolutely adored Kate and Leo in this movie. They made the love story seem so true, so inspiring. I don't have any complaints about Titanic, I thought it was perfect!

Yeah, that was what made it so real to me too- the chemistry and the acting of the actors and their love story can really happen though. Yes, even though it was fiction, the movie was still great.

I read somewhere before, that the lives of those people aboad the Titanic were so ordinary that they would not make the movie interesting. Thus they had to create the story of Jack and Rose, filled with all the soap opera drama and suspense that people would go and watch. It worked.

Yes, the life of fictional Jack and Rose was very interesting- but they didn't really know all the people aboard the Titanic so maybe there was an interesting story too.. Of survival and stuff..

Jack and Rose is my favourite film and I wish they're so true, more than fiction They're so touching and seems to be the fairy tale one of a kind
