Professor, you do this?

This morning after my return from Bhubaneswar, I saw cobwebs hanging on sides of wall and corners, ceilings etc. so I cleaned them using a small broom tied to the end of a bamboo.
I used vacuum cleaner to draw dust from cough etc.
Just then some friends came, my wife Kalyani gave them tea and snacks and requested them to wait.
When I came out from a room, I saw them, they saw me sweating and holding the devices, one said, ‘You did it?
But you have maidservants for this.’
I said, ‘yes they are there, but work is poor, moreover I enjoy doing this at least once in a month’.
Friends, what is your opinion, is there any harm if we do such works at home, that we can do?
Do you clean, dust your rooms?
Help in kitchen?
How you remove cobwebs, do you use sticks or vacuum cleaner?
Please respond and share your views.
Thanks in advance.
Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .
Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

hi professor,
i love my husband the more when i see him helping me in house chores. i feel he loves me more that way because he doesnt leave all the "dirty" job at home to me. he does not want me tired hence he helps. that is what love is, right?
it has been in my mind that men were made by God because they can lend a hand when they are needed in the house especially when women there are having difficulty with the task.

hi professor I am in an assisted living retirement center and truthfully I do not get to do a darned thing I used to do and liked doing it. I mean my room is vacumned for me, my bed linens changed and bed made for me. room dustes, bathroom cleaned and I sit here and mylot. I am totally embarrassed that I do not do anything but eat sleep mylot and dress, comb my hair.I never had servants as my only servant was me, myself and I. Jpw I would get upset with lazy myself and me would quarrel with I and myself but I would eventually get things done. lol lol I see nothing wrong with you doing something like that occasionally as long as that old bugaboo diabetes with its foot pains does not grab onto you. Hope today finds you feeling great.I a m fine today except for feeling sleepy. I had some syrup on my pancakes this morning and I know I should not have. I do
know better. I have no real excuse except it tasted so good. lol.

I do find web around my place but they usaully spider webs! As soon as spring comes I start getting small spiders in my apartment! I find them in even room in the apartment from time to time. It is like a look around for them one day and nothing. Then the next I find one or two! I will use the vaccuum sometimes. If not I spray Raid on the spiders to kill them first. I clean but not alot! I just hate cleaning! I usually see and kill around 30 spiders a year! I only see cobwbs in the winter and it is usaully a stran or 2.

Hello Professor!
I believe there's nothing wrong with what you did even though you have servants to do it. You are just a typical man who followed your instincts. I for one,if I see some cobwebs at home,I do not wait for anyone to clean it nor tell someone to do the task. I usually use some high sticks or just brooms if it reaches it to dust the webs. Yes,I do some household chores most of the time even if my niece is around to do it,we don't have maids but my niece is there to help me. Sometimes I feel comfortable doing some chores on my own.
See yah!

Hello Dear Professor! Unfortunately in India many of us have a notion that the some jobs are best to be left to the servants and they are not meant for us to handle! May be since we have lot of cheap labour in India these thoughts have strong base also!
But personally though I have several workers available for me, I prefer to handle some works all by myself! Like I have discussed several times on this forum that I am staying on a farm which is quite far away from the township. though I have electrician and plumber on my farm, I prefer to rectify and repair electrical problems and plumbing problems all by myself. Sometimes I clean the furniture with vacuum cleaner and clean my Car also fro inside with this. I don't feel any thing wrong in doing so!
Some times I try my hand at cooking also, which my wife and son admire a lot! I draw lot of satisfaction when ever I do such works with my own hands ! Thanks for the discussion!

People who live in the West do their own menial work. Even the not so nice menial work like cleaning the toilet. In Western society there are very few cultural distinctions to divide people into classes. In other words all Canadians are equal, and with a very few exceptions (the very rich) everyone gets to clean their own toilet!

hello dada,
I do all the houseworks.
I work weekdays and on weekends start household chores then.
So..if your housemaids are too slow to do the works for you...
you can hire me for that hahaha..

Dear Sir
I would say this is a typical Indian Mentality. We Indians have yet to realize that it is our house, hour cleanliness and we are to take care of it. I personally find it better to clean the things on my own instead of depending on someone else to do it for me.
I would love to mention an incident that really changed my attitude - When I was studying at NIIT, my trainer, one day I saw him cleaning the institutes toilet. I was shocked. But I did ask him - "Sir, we have a sweeper who cleans the toilets here, why did you take the pain". He replied - Sid, it is us who use it, it is us who would be ill if it was rotting and also it would be us, who would suffer if it was not working ok. So why should it not be us to take care of it.
I was moved by his response and realized how small I am, depending on maids or others for my well being. I see no harm in cleaing the toilet or anything as it is me and my health at stake.

Honestly, I hate cleaning the house because I do not like the dust etc. I try to sweep the floor and sometimes just wipe off the dust here and there. I am not much of a good house cleaner.

I hate cleaning the house. I don't know why. But i hate. But can't be helped. I must do. so I do. At my early marriage as I was conceived my hubby did this work. But now no chance I must do. here in western countries people do their own work. they seldom seek maids to do the house work. if the lady is high professional like doctors definitely they need maids to clean their work. they give one of the house key to the servent and go for work early in the morning. After that the servant goes to their house (by her own car) opens the door; cleans the house; close the house and brings the key with her. i like to be that much rich to have a servant

It's a long holiday week in our country, and I spent this day cleaning out my pad. I changed all my curtains, dusted some furniture, threw out stuff that needed to be thrown out and yes, the cobwebs, too. I used a broom to remove the cobwebs. I don't think there's harm in doing some chores even if you have help at home. For me, cleaning my pad can relieve my of stress sometimes.

I think it's good that sometimes we can lift our hands and do some of the chores at home ourselves. We can't depend everything to be done by our maidservant because she is also a human being and it could be tiring for her sometimes especially when she has already done so much in a day. I used to have a maidservant and I treat her just like one of the family.

Perhaps you must be referring to whether men do this. I know countless men who help around with women working outside their homes nowadays. Lucky is the man who has this inclination to help around because all men do not think the way you do. And your wife is lucky too!

Hi professor, Good to know that you actively participate in your household works.
There is no harm in keeping your house clean. I think you should do it quite often.
Also, you are lucky to have maid in the house. I do all the household work by myself. I don't work these days, so clean the house everyday. My hubby is such a mess at times. So, I have to redo things that had just been cleaned the day before.
Recently, I have seen few spiders in my walls, so i make sure that wall's corners don't have any web. I use Vaccum to clean them. I enjoy keeping my house clean but yes sometimes i get tired of cleaning every single day.

you did great man, there's only few of those who had maidservants but still willing to do such a thing. for what i did in my house? indeed, i'm a single person who lived in appartment. willy-nilly, i have to clean it up once a week. and it feels terrible knowing that nobody willing to help you, even your girlfriend.
