Chris Gayle, a squashbuckling opener of WI managed himself for the IPL at last after being unsold in the auction. Gayle said he had no other choice when he noticed that veterans like he himself, Sarwan, Chanderpaul were ignored in the Twenty 20 and ODI for the series against Pakistan. He was disappointed while he was left out in the selection. So having nothing to do, he managed himself to get a team Royal Challengers Bangalore. He went unsold mainly because had he been selected he would not able to make himself available for more than 4 matches. Now, he is available for the whole tournament.

I do not think he chose IPL over country. He was dropped from his country's team. So he had no choice but to join an IPL team. He actually has taken on WICB as he feels he is fit, while they dropped him in the name of fitness. BTW, West Indies team is doing nicely without him just beating Pakistan in the first T20 match. Cheers! Ram
