Japan is a very nice place but don't leave your bike unlocked

When we arrived in Japan, my husband told me to always lock the bike after using because that's the only two things ,other than umbrella, which is subject and prospect and being stolen in Japan.
True enough, I lost my husband's bike after I have forgotten to lock it.
Until now it pains me to be a victim of stealing in this very honest country.

I always thought that Japan is the safest place because the people have the great dignity and they're always obey the law. I'm sure you felt uncomfortable about this, well even in the nice country like Japan we should always take good care of our belongings. Good luck and I hope this won't happen to you anymore.

There is no question or doubt that Japan is a very nice and safe country to live. Crime rates are very minimal if not zero, people do obey rules, be it a simple traffic rule or a law. However, I don't understand why they get or steal bikes. Many say that it is just for the fun of it.

I hope your husband will not be to hard on you for your oversight. At my house a problem would never be forgotten, forgiven but not forgotten. There are many teasers in our family.

Hi. dorisday1971. It is very sad to know that people in Japan are stealing. After the terrible earthquake, I would think that everyone should be helping each other. It is crimes everywhere that you go to. I am sorry that you have lost your husband's bike.

The Japanese will not get your bags or other personal belongings even if you leave it in public places. However, if you leave your bike or umbrella, especially if it is raining, for sure it will be stolen.
