hello fellow mylotters. how are we all doing to day? any ways i have a question. has anyone ever used a temp service to get a job? if so was the pay worth it and were you able to become a full time employee? well the reason that i was asking was because i had join a temp service just to find a job. i joined and had a job the next day. the only thing that i didn't like about my temp company was that they lied to me tell me that place i was going to be working at hired a lot of people often. come to find out that it was really hard to get a job at where they sent me. i had spent a year with that company that i was assigned to and never once was i offered a real job there.

Hi Sisco, I haven't but my eldest daughter has and was offered and still works at Porsche and even gets to drive them round Silverstone racecourse as part of her training bless although the initial placement was for four months. She used a temp agency called Reed Employment, UK based but maybe international. Huggles. Ellie :D

wow i have to say that has to be the coolest temp job I've ever hear. here where i live all the jobs for temps are either in factories or offices, so there's not really that fun or interesting temp jobs here. you telling me about this makes me want to move to the UK to get a temp job like your daughter. well thanks for taking the time to respond to my discussion. you have yourself a nice weekend and keep on mylotting.

It's on a case by case basis really. You have to know bot the temp service & the company they're placing you in to know how things will go. I went through a temp service that sent me to Bosch. After a few months Bosch hired me on. Dell on the other hand NEVER hired any of their temps. They'd let you work as long as they could legally as a temp then lay you off. A few months later you could return as a temp again, never earning benefits. The temp services were seldom allowed to disclose much of that information.

ya that's how it was with my last temp job. i was shocked how many people they would go though even if they were hard working. i never understood the point of get temps in to train just to replace them with some one knew that they had to train again. i guess that how it works with temps.

Hi. sisco100. I had a job once where I was hired as a temp at the hospital in my hometown that I now live in. I was hired as a Telecommunications Clerk. I was assigned to work there for 2 and half months. I was replacing this girl that was going onto maternity leave. So I was her temporary replacement. Well I worked this position until the time was up for me. I wanted so badly for my supervisor to hire me as a permanent employee. But, this never did happen for me. Instead, I believe my 2nd cousin ended up replacing me until the other girl came back to work after she had her baby. It was really odd. Until this day, I can never get over the fact that I was not hired back at this department as a regular worker. They made more in pay as a regular worker. The girls wanted me to stay and work at this department, but it never happened. This is why I am a stay at home mother. Pretty soon, I will be working in the clerical field and I will at least have a job that I can feel secure at. I am sorry that this has happened to you. I wished that the temporary agency could have been more upfront with you. I dislike it when people give me the run around, or they are just so secretive into not telling me everything that I need to know that is crucial.

I have gotten jobs through temp agencies several times. A few of the companies that I was sent to did a lot of hiring for the company that way, some never did, and some were hit and miss. It all depends on the company you are sent to, and you never really know what is going to happen. As far as the pay...welll... I am one of those people that firmly believes that any pay is better than no pay. When it comes to having a paycheck, I always feel that if the current job doesn't seem to pay enough, you can alaways look for another one while you keep the current one. I once worked through a temp agency for 3 years at the same place, making only minimum wage. That company was just one of those that never hired full time employees. The job atmosphere was pleasant and the work was not difficult, and jobs were really hard to come by at that time. Minimum wage was not a lot, and it didn't even pay the bills all of the time, but it was still better than not having a pay check at all. So, I guess it really amounts to how you look at things like that.

I personally started the job that I have now through a temp service. It was their way of seeing if one would be there everyday and what their work ethic was before they took the plunge. I have been there 12 years now and am in management. I now understand that the cost and time it takes to enroll and train a new employee, just to find out that they won't stay is huge. There are companies that just use the temp services for benefit free labor and often use them to their full advantage. I am glad I didn't have that problem. It is a toss up for sure.

I have used a temp agency and there were some good and some bad things. It was nice to have the opportunity to pick up extra jobs on the weekend. The worst thing was that I felt like the employer where I was working Monday through Friday didn't value the temp workers as much because they had to pay extra to the temp agency. We didn't have the chance to get hired full time by the company, but they resented that they had to pay extra because we were through a temp agency. I think if I had the opportunity again, I would try to find a full time job without the agency, and just use the agency for weekend or evening work when I needed extra money.

Hi sisco100, I once worked for a temp service, and after 3 months of working for the company that I was assigned to I was hired on. The pay was just as they said it would be. Low at first but with raises ever so often. Then they had a max at what the raise would elevate too. My thing is, I got paid little for the work that I did which was the same work that the hired on employees did. I had to work when the hired employees didn't want to work. I was always referred to as the temp. Then when I got hired on, I had to work 3 more months before my benefits kicked in. Had to start at their low rate for paying and work my way up to top pay. But all in all it paid off. I worked for that company for 9 close to 10 years and now the company has closed. My advice is to hang in their and prayfully your hard work and honesty will pay off. And hopefully when the company you are assigned to starts hiring you will be the first one to get hired. It could be the reason you aren't hired yet is because things are slow. At least that is the way it was with the job I got. It was vice versa they really needed more employees at that time. If not why not ask the temp service to send you somewhere else. God Bless you on your quest for getting hired.
