Everytime I go to a news website, william and kate's wedding is on the headlines and every detail of their wedding and the planning processing has been mapped. They even have their own section in CNN! I am not very interested in celebrities but I have never seen two people so publicized in my life. The celebrities that are usually highly publicized are the ones who keep making mistakes so they stay in the news. But these two seem so normal and aren't making mistakes, so why the obsession with them? There are many royal couples around the world, so what makes this couple so different?

Because Prince William is the son of Princess Diana, who was loved by people in the world before.. And I think it is rare to see royal couples wed. And many people are interested in knowing how the couple met and everything, so no station would miss the opportunity to feature the royal couple..

Actually this came to my mind that there are many royal families out there and how come that this British Royals are sensationalized. Then I have the second thought that I think it is because of Princess Diana who have touched many people's lives who were loved by many people. Now the fact that Prince William is the son of Princess Diana people are now excited to see his Royal wedding. I am wondering right now what if Prince Harry will get married soon? Is it the same as Prince William? I am sure with the preparations at all but does a lot of people will be excited as well and the media bothered to sensationalized it?

Yeah, it's really mainly because of his mother- and prince William seems to be a really nice guy with a kind heart - and maybe people can see Princess Diana in him..I am not really sure about Prince Harry though.. since he'll never be a king but he is quite famous too..let's just wait and see.

hi there, I am super excited for William and Kate's wedding. I think they make a great couple. Kate doesn't belong to the royal family. She is one normal girl like all of us and now she is marrying the prince of Britain. i really appreciate where she is now. People are excited to see them married mainly because they are royals and also because their on and off love relationship has been part of people's life since last 8 years. Now that they are finally getting married, people will definitely be happy for them.
I'll be watching their marriage ceremony live on Youtube. If you want to as well then subscribe to The Royal Channel on youtube.

I have asked my Mom regarding this matter that how come the British Royals were the only one that is being sensationalized the fact that there are other Royal families that are surrounded in Europe or in other countries. She told me that British Royals are very powerful even before and they have so many colonies. I think there is the connection of that is what you called a Domino Effect for today's generation. Then in addition that Princess Diana became popular to the extent that she have been people's icon for being a good role model so no wonder if they are excited on Prince William because his personality seems like Diana as well and he was even involved in many organizations and advocacies.

I don't really know. Who cares if those two are going to marry? They're not even in love, it's obvious. He's not so old, and she looks so old, probably he likes other type of girls, like every young man. And she's the kind of girl that a 40 years old man could be in love, but as she looks perfect for royalty, the poor William doesn't have another choice. And her, well, he's a prince. You can see that in their eyes! What a shame!

Obviously you weren't able to know some informations about them on how they met. I mean I know you have the right to judge them because they are a public figure but your post seems a low blow already.

I had not planned on watching the ceremony, but all the hype has hooked me. This morning they were speculating about the Wedding dress. Now I am dying to see what style it will be. LOL
I probably will not watch the entire thing, but I might tape it. I don't think it is worth getting up early to watch.

Because, it's super romantic. Everyone would like to have a wedding like hers. I remember when they showed Princess Di's wedding. It was on at 3 or 4 in the morning an d I woke up to watch it. And I forget what the rating were, but they were huge. Plus, how often do you get weddings like this broadcast live on TV. It's just a big thing that's happening. As I was typing this, the bio channel went to commercials and one of them was about Biography having two days of their wedding.

I think that a new lineage of royalty always seems to fascinate the world and society in one way or the other. it is is a time if change and hope dreams coming true. A royal wedding just seems to bring out the beauty of things to come. It is a time that molds the nations and the world.

I think people are just taking opportunities to make money out of anybody whom they think can make them money. They make a lot of hype and when you and millions of others buy the paper or magazine, the papazzazi pockets that money to buy themselves that big house.
Now their focus is on william and kate. Unless these two enjoy people peeking at them at every moment, they are just victims of the papazzazi.

At the most basic level I think it's a form of escapism much like a lot of TV. Some people go out and get drunk or go for a walk, some people gawk over big fancy weddings.
From the business point of view, it's a money maker. It's probably less popular or at least portrayed different in other countries where rich people blowing millions isn't such a big deal. The basic idea has been around for decades, remember lifestyles of the rich and famous? Then there was cribs and other shows now. Guess it's easier to wish you had what few will ever achieve then go be happy with what you have.

I agree that its the romance factor and that most girls can only dream of a weddig like this but its WAY too commercialized. I was watching the news this morning and there is a Kate Middleton garden gnome. That's just ridiculous. I can see reproducing the ring but everything else is too much.
