Haha. This happened to me earlier tonight when I wanted to comment on a discussion of a myLotter. I won't mention the topic name because it might send sparks to some people. Whenever I comment on other people's discussions, I just go with whatever I think. Whether I agree or disagree with the discussion, I still post it. So earlier tonight, I wanted to comment on this discussion and at first I was hesitant. Finally, I decided to write my comment and my point. However, when I clicked the post my comment button, there was an error. I pressed back and my pretty long comment wasn't there anymore. Was it God's way of telling me not to post my comment?? Normally, I would've still attempted to type down all those words that I typed but when I scrolled down the discussion, saw that there were a lot of people arguing. Some people were even using words like stupid, unintelligent and stuff like that. So I got really discouraged and did not post my comment anymore. I thought to myself, "I'll just leave the argument to them" and laughed it off. Scary people. Haha. How about you? Have you ever experienced the same thing? Keep me posted. :)

Hi dianne! From what I read in the guidelines, people shouldn't argue in here, so maybe they should be reported? It's a good thing I have not experienced that yet!

I thought so too, that's why I kind of got scared with them. Maybe they consider it to be just sharing opinions in a not so pleasant way. Haha. If you read the discussion you'll understand why I got scared. I don't wanna report them because it's not really my business. Besides, they'll eventually tire each other out. Arguing is pointless when both aren't open-minded enough.

I know I can stay anonymous, but I'm still thinking if it would be a good decision. The posts have really been quite long.

Hi caprice the happy Yes, the guidelines and the rules are clear and you can report them. @ohsodianne: I see a great heart in you dear. Only those comments/responses that are against the rules can be reported too, and if the post itself is the cause, that can be reported too.

Yeah, I do the same thing ofabiana. It's just plain scary to be arguing like that. It would put me on an emotional stress if they responded to me. SCAAAAARY.

oh my. Someone posted a comment on one of my discussions and I was pretty scared of her answer. @_@ I wasn't judging her and my post wasn't referring to her but it SEEMED like she was lecturing me or something on plastic bag bans. She really scared me. Talk about timing. @_@ It put me on emotional stress a bit.

There are a mixed bunch here on myLot and sometimes we are bound to see those who think arguing is fun. Maybe it is for them but I doubt it for the majority. If that happens again then just move on and participate elsewhere. Those situations are not the majority and you will certainly find many other places to join in without having to watch your words. Welcome aboard!

Discussing is fun but indeed arguing is not Those who argue often don't even read or listen to what the other person is saying and those are the ones to avoid if you want to enjoy the time that you spend here

Thanks for the advise mysdianait. Yeah, some people like to argue but for me that's just not the case. It puts me under stress. Aside from that, people like them usually wouldn't back down.

Yup, that's so true. What would be the point of leaving your opinion then if their not even going to read it. tsk.

Same here ohso. I recently came across a discussion in which a lot of rubbish things were posted by the user, which clearly reflected that he is either he has lack of global exposure or his brain is undernourished. lolz.. It got on my nerves and I did comment and had to face lot of foolish kinds of arguments. Today is gave a long explanation to them, clearing every aspect in the discussion and tried my level best to enlighten to ignorant fools. Now, lets just wait and watch what happens. I you like you can go to the discussions I responded and have a look at it, its really hilarious. For a hint of the topic, I''ll say that the discussion topic starts with an "m". Read it and enjoy. ;)

You could tread cautiously if you are not comfortable with any topic and might feel that you will be 'attacked' although a healthy debate does include disagreements. Many hesitate to argue as any disagreement could be considered to be a negative point and there would be some who will give that argument a negative vote which actually is wrong. To be on the safe side unless you want to throw caution to the winds there is plenty of fish here; go there and pick what you want.

Hi ohsodianne Oh that is really bad to happen right when you are getting into the family here. But you have really done an admirable thing here - by not posting the link or even the name of the starter A word of caution - Maybe they are close friends chatting there and they agree using such words but as a lotter, one should refrain from such words. And I think you did best - skipped on to some other discussion. But hey, if the responses were rude and in any case you could sense a violation of rules, you can always report the discussion... Please consult the guidelines for more on this.

Oh well, if people want to argue, let them be. You were just trying to give your opinion in the matter in a peaceful way, so you shouldn't be scared of other users engaging in a fight. If you're interested in a topic feel free to comment on it. The more opinions, the better, I think

That's a good way to put it. Thank you for your advice. Anyway, I can just choose not to look at the discussion anymore after commenting.

You don't have to be scared of sharing your opinions. This is a site where everybody's opinion is free to be shared, as long as it will not put down other people when you do so and is within Mylot's guidelines. Respond on your own box, if you want to. No need to butt in to those arguing.

Well Im not really afraid to respond to a post I mean I just express my opinion and dont waste my time arguing with people.People may still get mad at you and give you a minus but at least you kno you didnt do anything wrong. THis is mylot so feel free to speak your mind but if you see a argument you can stay out if you want.Just dont bother arguing.

Thanks for the thought Kirinx. I guess you're right, I can always just express my opinion and not choose to argue.

Hmm... well, no one has been outright rude to me, but I did have this feeling one time that I was being poked at for voicing out a different opinion and that made me feel a bit bad... =/ I think I would still respond and give my opinion. If they reply to me after that saying I'm stupid or unintelligent or whatever, I may or may not reply back. If I do, I will make sure I am still as polite as I can be. If I don't reply, well... it's enough that I have already said my opinion. =)

i still normally voice out my opinion but the post i was saying involved pretty scary arguments. it was kind of pointless to put an opinion to which they wouldn't listen to.

You really shouldn't be afraid to post. I've seen some people be less than cordial about some topics, but nothing I would consider scary or necessarily offensive. I've even had people respond with some pretty negative reactions to some of my posts. But it doesn't bother me. They're entitled to their views. A heated debate on here can get pretty intense, but when people resort to name calling it usually means they can't present a valid argument. On the other hand if those things bother you. Stay away from certain topics. Almost everything is discussed on here. Religion and politics are going to bring about a lot more emotion from people in posts than a thread on your favorite flavor of ice cream.

Yep. I've read some discussions on religion and politics and they really have A DISCUSSION in those topics. But for me, I'd rather stay away from those topics because when I go to school I would already be in a lot of pressure. I don't wanna get any additional stress here on myLot.

I had written a long comment on someones dicussion the other night and like you went to post it and it was gone. Mine didnt have arguments, but I did think the same thing, was this God telling me no? I also chose not to rewrite it. I havent been on here long, but have found some interesting discussions. Some funny, interesting and scary.

Don't be "afraid" of "scary people" on the internet. For one thing, I tend to think of the tough ones as badgers - (they're more scared of you than you are of them). Also, try to think that people who appear to be very closed-minded arguing that you're wrong may just be the best compliment of all. ;)
