I used to maintain a dairy on and off , where I used to note down all the important events or any thing else that I felt should be recorded.I still go through my old dairy/s and it makes me feel nostalgic . If I were to think back I doubt if I would have remembered any of those events with such clarity as I do now, since I have the dairy to help me remember...But of late I have stopped writing it,but, I am thinking of seriously taking it up once again...
Friends , Please do share your own views and experiences about maintaining a dairy or a private blog ...

Maintaining dairy is a very good habit and it really helps to maintain records of happenings in our life. I used to maintain it many years ago, when I was unmarried. Now days our responses/comments/counter-comments on my lot serve as dairy for us. There is one site called 'Live Journal', where one keep write blog of his/her daily events or whenever one feels like and those blogs will be visible to the writer only. I mean you can set a choice, where only the writer could see his/her entries. I believe it is one of the good options for maintaining a dairy.

Hi deepak, thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts I think I too have heard about this site Live Journal, though I haven't tried it out. That seems a good idea. The other day one of my friends had an experience which actually saved her from losing money. She and her family had been living in rented apartment for which they had given Rs 50,000 as advance and later the owner asked for Rs 10,000 since he was renovating and also making some necessary additions. They had been living in that house for nearly 6 years and a few months ago they moved to their own house. The owner gave Rs 50,000 back and he had completely forgotten about the other 10,000 for which my friend too had forgotten to take a receipt. The owner was not a bad person, just that he just didn't remember!. Finally he said that if they had any proof , he would give the money. My friend has the habit of writing down every detail about her routine in her dairy. Now since this had happened 4 years ago she had to dig up all her old dairies and thankfully she found the page on which she had made a mention of the money given and the owner gave back the money when he read it since it was so old and one could see that it was a fact...

Hi Kiran!
I agree with you that written records are always helpeful and what your friend did or used did, eventually helped her recover her money. I also maintain my expense dairy on regular basis and it helps a lot to analyse your trend of expenditure and where we can curtail it.

No Kiran! I won't be doing it for sure. Earlier, I would remember many details about many small instances . My memory was supposed to be wonderful and people used to say I am gifted with a photographic memory [Now it sounds like some unbelievable history to me] and I never had this habit too. But to start it today-- I won't do it because for one I am quite indisciplined and won't write on a daily basis.
I always have felt that writing diaries is something exclusive to films an d books [ wow!---and for the entertainment value these diaries are capable of providing when they have crucial facts about a hero or heroine's birth or a Don's set of gangster friends
If you are in the habit , you can definitely resume it.

What you say is right Kiran.I too read what you had written earlier to Deepak. It is always good to jot down important things. I do it with regard to passwords and important transactions but I would like to be more systematic about it. It is indeed a good habit.

Not really kala, I have given an example above on Deepaks post as to how an account in a dairy helped a friend of mine. In fact , she was amazed at it.My memory has never been that good but there are things that I remember to this day and certain things I forget the very next day, and it makes some people so mad !I dont blame them though...Thats why I feel that it might be better to start writing and maintaining a dairy.
In films a dairy is a very helpful weapon in so many ways...lol...

Hi sridhar, As to your question - whenever I feel like a change I do so, and why not? I am not sure if there is another kiran here, and even if there was another kiran it wouldnt make any difference to my changing avatar when I feel like . However, there is no rule against changing your avatar. Thanks a lot for appreciating the flower plant and have a nice weekend

Hello Kiran ji, Writing a diary and keeping account of exp. is good habit. Although I am not writing a diary. But I keep account of my daily exp. By writing diary you can plan your day in well manner. Some time if you write a diary and in case you forgot any thing after long period you can recover it from you diary. If you can than start again it. I am not know much about blog.

Hi ip, thanks a lot for your response. We all have different reasons for maintaining a blog or a diary. Some do it for personal reasons and some others blog on other topics that interest them - either way what is important is that it becomes a record or document and as you rightly say you have the advantage of looking back and going through it at a later date - all the best and happy mylotting

Hi, Each person's life is what he/she makes of it and is interesting in its own way because there are no identical individuals or identical life styles anywhere in the world.I am sure if you take an interest in yourself others automatically will do so, that has been my experience...all the best and happy mylotting

In the past, I did maintain a diary where I wrote pretty much everything that happened to me. But I stopped because it felt as if I was talking to myself and none of my problems were being solved.

Hi rina, I feel that writing a dairy does help you lighten he burden that you are carrying within yourself, and when you look back after many months or years and go through the account it only seems like something that happened to someone else because after you go through an experience however bad or good it is, it becomes more like a dreamy experience and does not have the same effect on us.All the best and happy mylotting

I have a couple of blogs that I maintain. One regularly and the other not so regularly.
The one that I keep updated regularly is my cooking one, where I keep note of recipes that I've tried and enjoyed. The other one is one that I've had for nearly 7 years. While I don't update it regularly, I do write there at least once or twice a week, sometimes more. A couple of my closest friends have access to that blog, so that they know what I'm thinking about, or going through, and they try to offer support, and/or solutions as may be needed.
I don't have a Diary anymore, but I used to, and I wrote in it for the longest time. I still have it, and look back through it occasionally, but I don't write in there any more.

Hi brit, thanks a lot for sharing your views It is good that you are posting regularly on your blog. I have seen that most people including myself tend to lose interest after the initial excitement of starting a blog, changing its appearance a few times and also posting on our favorite topics....I guess the same thing happens with a dairy, not many are consistent !all the best and happy mylotting

I used to keep a journal as well. Currently, I am maintaining a blog site. I don't writ everything that happens to me, but I try to update it with the important stuffs. I like blogging, it keeps me sane I guess. If I don't release what i feel at the moment, I think i might take it out on someone else. Hahaha.

i use to have one but eventually, i woud forget about it so i decided to stop it, one reason is because i am always busy at work and cannot find the right time to make a diary or like an online journal but maybe someday i will.. or not..

Hi soccerbai,It doesnt matter if you are not regular, but preserve whatever you have written because when you go through it years later it does give you a lot of happiness. I found one of my old dairies written when I was in college which has everything in it like recipes, song lyrics and some jottings about friends and also notes we would write and pass inside the class. I was so happy to read it and relive those days...

i wish i do. but i am a classic case of spirit is willing, flesh is weak. everyday i tell myself that i will start a journal. because i know as i grow old, i will someday be forgetful. a journal will help me relive stuff. :)
maybe one day soon, i will pick up the discipline to do an everyday journal. :)

I used to have a diary too. I wrote in it whenever I had something on my mind. So it wasn't strictly a daily thing. Sometimes, I wrote in it every few days, and sometimes I wrote in it several times in a day. =P
But I became quite busy with things and I stopped writing in it. It's been years. Every now and then, I would think of starting it up again but I never found the time.
Until today! =P Hehe. Well, not really. I got another notebook and started writing thoughts in it. I want to write a proper... what should I call it... transition entry... when I resume the old diary. =P
I also have a blog. Again not daily thing. In fact, similar to my diary, that became inactive for a while. I'd post once a year or so. Hahaha. =P But I've been more active lately. Hoping to get back to that too. =)
Oh. My blog is not private, by the way. It is open to the world wide web. =P If I have something private to write about, I won't put in on the net. Hahaha. That's something for my diary. =P

Hi moirai, my dairy too is somewhat similar since I am not regular at making entries. The same case with my blog, when I feel like I post something....I too would write all private thoughts in my dairy and not on my blog lolthanks a lot for sharing your thoughts, all the best
