What do you think of this. A girl write a letter to a editor in the newspaper called "TOM". Tom is a great advisor and councellor and alot of people write to him for problem. YOU NEED TO HEAR TOM'S RESPONSE TO HER LETTER. Please tell me what you think of it
Girl letter:
Dear TOM,
My name is Gabrielle. I am 39 years of age and my husband is 40 years of age. We both love eatch other greatly. My husband lost his job recently and has been staying home now for the past couple of weeks. One day I was going to work and just before I go I told my husband bye and left with a kiss. I took the car. As i reach couple blocks away the car broke down. Unfortunately I left my phone. It was a short distance anyway so I decided to walk back home. I reach home after a couple minutes walks and I called my husband, but I guess he couldnt hear me because the music was turned up. I then just open the door with my key. I went upstairs and to my surprise I found my husband in a bed with the next door neighbour. The girl is only 16!!! I really couldn't believe it. I was so shock. What to do Tom seriously I need help right now? I am so upset!!! Yours Truly,
Gabrielle,
TOM response to Gabrielle
Dear Gabrielle,
I have recieved your letter and I hope you are doing fine. No need to be upset though Gabrielle. Seriously it is not so bad as it seem. MAybe the problem for the break down of your car is that it wasn't warm up enough. Or could be that your engine needs check up. ou should check your hose and stuff if they are dirty and try to clean them. If none of that is the problem, then it shouldn't cost alot to fix the car because it doesnt seem like a major problem. Gabrielle. You are welcome to send back a letter if you need help. I was happy to help you. Good DAY!!!
Your Advisor/councellor
TOM,

Sadly, so many women seem to think that this is the way males REALLY behave, LOL!

I think it is really a joke too. Its been a while back, but I just remembered about it. A newspaper in my country. I remember when I showed my mom she was just dying with laughter. up to this day I really think it is just a joke. But if it is a joke, it is really funny to me.

Tom,
You gave her the wrong advice.
She was not asking about her car. The lady was asking of what to do with her husband sleeping with the 16 year old girl.
Depending on what state she lives in, the Gabrielle could have called the police to report that her husband was with a minor.
Then she should go talk to the girl's parents about the situation, and explain that didn't have a clue and just found them.
If Gabrelle is reading this, then sweetie, he's not worth your time. What if it was your daughter, what you do if someone's husband was sleeping with her?
Tom on the other hand should take some psychology classes and know what the readers who are writing about and talk about that not some car.

Please dont take all of this serious. It is a joke. i believe the section of the newspaper it came under was all for fun and laughs. But I feel the main idea was to show viewers how some male minds are set up. What do you feel was the main idea of these two letters? What were they trying to convey?

It sounds like Tom didn't read the whole letter since he didn't address anything but the car issue. I think I would have been upset if I got that response! If this guy is supposed to be there for advice, he should be making sure he is providing advice that was requested! Thanks for sharing this.

I think I know what you mean, but not sure. Do you mean that you would go after him and "let loose"? I think I would fire this guy rather than let him publish such garbage. I don't really like any of the people who give advice to writers like that (Dear Abby, Anne Landers to name a few I am familiar with). It might make people feel good to know that someone is reading their letters, but with a response like that to the question that was asked, I would get rid of this guy and get someone who actually reads the questions that are asked.

I am saying the same thing. I feel though that this letter was purposely made to show how some males mind are set up. To me up to this day I cant take this serious, it seem all like a joke to me. But if it is true then, I would seriously loose after TOM if you get what I mean.

If this is a joke than it's funny but if if it's serious then I feel very bad for poor Gabrielle.

Did she mail the letter to the right address? It seems to me that the tom she wrote was a service advisor and not a counselor. Perhaps he is a mechanic and applied his expertise on the subject at hand. Either gabrielle sent the letter to the wrong tom or the right tom did not read through the whole letter and read only the first part until the car broke part. It is clear to me based on his advise that he did not paid attention to the almost broken marriage and decided on advising regarding the broken car itself. Perhaps gabrielle needs to send another letter to get her second issue clarified. Mr. Tom is having a one problem solve policy for every letter.

Actually read through all of the letter. I really feel it is just a joke and it is for that reason that I wrote "LOL" in the topic. I think it is just to show you how some males mind are set up. It is trying to show you that male don't really see the problem much in the man cheating, they all feel it is natural.

I hope you realize that it was just for laughs. It wasn't that much of a serious situation. It was suppose to be funny. I was trying to provide some sort of entertainment for those who have been working all day in mylot without any fun. Just wanted to help a bit. Now could you read it over and have a laugh.

Obviously the main concern in TOm's mind was the car. I would sweep the husband to the curb and fix the car! I am relatively sure the car will be more serviceable than the man ever was will minimal repair. A 40 year old man that has his way with a 16 year old is no good. And once they have done such a thing there is no telling when it will happen again.

I am certainly glad that this story wasn't a serious one. I do not take infedelitiy lightly and would deal with it sharply and swiftly.

If it was something light hearted we were talking about I could see the humor. There are some things I am very serious about.

Yes I almost did! that is why I decided to read other people responses[ I usually do this any way, so I won't post a comment that is similar to another]but yes I thought if I find my man in bed with another person...specially a young girl? first I would grab her by the hair....take her home to her parents...and then get back to my lovely husband...give him a good right hander...kick him where the sun does not shine and shut him out of my life for ever! few! I'm glad it was a joke...but let's be real this situation happen in real life...more often than you think.

lol but she really is in pain. She maybe is just really confuse until she doesn't even know what to do. I bet if this was a true story then the lady was hoping that there would be some chance of she being able to forgive her husband. But this one is too deep to forgive i believe.

If it was a true "Ask Help Situation", i would even say the same joke, just for starter after - putting a smile- then i would do respond to the actual problem.

Hey whats up, long time have'nt heard from you.
Anyway Tom understand the letter perfectly. It is just that Tom doesnt really see what is wrong with "cheating". From his response you can definitely see that he has no problem with the man cheating.
I somewhat find it funny. It shows you how some male minds are set up.

Is this real/TRUE?
Well, this TOM seemed to ignore Gabrielle's situation with her husband cheating. He didn't even mention anything that has to do with 16 year old girl. In some countries like US, this is against the law to fool around with a minor like that. She is old enough to be his daughter.
I would be curious with TOM's reputation as a counselor. Gabrielle could have just seek advice from a female counselor or anybody.

This is not a real situation and it is just for laughs so please dont take it seriously. I would like to say though that if this is a real situation then it would have been terrible. but I like how the previous responder commented on the situation if it was real. The person said that they like the answer, the reason being is because the answer to the question is quite obvious and so maybe Tom is just being sarcastic or just trying to say that question that the lady ask really shouldn't be ask because the actions she should take at the moment is quite obvious. What do you think about that?

Ha, Ha, Ha! Tom's reply made me laugh so much that I could almost cry. He was apparently out of the line, as if barking at the wrong tree. I believe this is some kind of a spoof or something. Otherwise, this Tom "the adviser" would be suck off his job because he is way, way too far from what is being asked of him. Ha, Ha, Ha
Although, this could happen in real life ( I mean not the spoof thing or something). There are factors to consider why an adviser would try to elude some topics for proper advising. First, it's either the adviser is not sure of what to say or does not really know what to say. Second, he is doing it himself/herself that is why he/she is finding it difficult to patch up. Third, he/she is already sleepy while reading the letter and that he/she missed the point. Ha, Ha, Ha

LOL. Yup it is actually a spoof. The first time I read I nearly drop off the chair I was sitting on when I saw it. I saw it in the humour section in the newspaper and felt to share it to give you a little laugh. I am glad it is not a serious situation though, because if it was I know that wife would hae really been hurt.

Oh my. tom was more worried about helping her get her car fixed than to help her with what she just walked in on. Sounds so typical, especially these days.

I have a feeling TOM is doing it intentionally. He is not directly answering the question but just taking the analogy of the car breakdown to analyse the problem. When a person is angry, nothing will get in if the truth is spoken. Hence, I tend to agree with TOM in his approach. Did you not say TOM was a great advisor and counsellor?

Sorry for the long delay but I have been studying for my present examinations.
Let i tell you though firstly, this is just a spoof, it is just for laughs and should not be taken seriously. I saw the story in the humor section of the newspaper a time back. So did you find it funny at all? Or are you just upset of what Tom did?

Haha...talk about selective reading...maybe Tom just read till the part where the car broke down, then his mind shut down after that. OR, maybe Tom knows the husband, and the husband somehow "convinced" Tom to give such an answer. (just a guess, who knows man?)

Your both guess are wrong actually. The only thing you got write was the first word in your response "haha". This actually not a real story and it is just for laughs. It was a joke i found in the huour section of the newspaper. I see that alot of people find it hard to figure that it was just for laughs. So like how you realize it is a joke, try to find the joke and the moral behind the joke.

Haha what i said was meant to be a joke, just to liven things up a bit, so it doesn't really matter if this is all a joke.

Sadly she turned to the wrong person to ask advice from. She was not looking to be blamed I don't think but neither did she expect to have the male say it was okay that her husband cheated.
I hope she truly understands that this was not the appropriate person to turn to and perhaps will get the help and or out of the marriage or do something instead of tolerate.
Thanks for sharing, although it made for a few chuckles sadly Tom was not thinking how this perhaps hurt her some.

Sorry for such a late delay but I am now in the process of studying for my present examinations.
i know though that it must really hurt like hell if this was a real story. I find it really funny though how Tom responded. Every time I think about it I seem to can't stop laughing.

LOL. Wow i wasn't looking at it that way either but to let I first say. This is not a real situation and please don't take it seriously, really don't. Anyway I saw this story in the humor section of the newspaper and i just felt like to share it with my fellow mylotters.
