Ours national fruit (Philippines) is mango, which is also known as “Fruit of the Gods”. it is really delicious and can be eaten, even if it's ripe or not. It can be served as plain, processed, dried or frozen. It's also my favorite fruit. It is also one of the top export products of the Philippines. WHat about yours?

Hi Dear Lady! I am from India and incidentally we too have the 'Mango' as our National fruit! Its description traced back in the Vedas! The famous poet of the past Kalidas has written a poem on this fruit! In the history, it seems Alexander the great also tasted this fruit and the King Akbar having found this fruit tasty he ordered to plant about 100,000 trees in his territory! The mango fruit is available in various sizes, shapes, colours and textures and the taste of ripen mango varies from swedish sour to sweeter in taste. Depending upon the flavour and the origin of the fruit we have about 100 varieties of Mango in India. The popular Varieties are Alphanso, Banginapalli, Langda, Neelam, Dasheri etc are few to name! Since India is an tropical country we have very congenial climate for this tree to flourish and production we get is in abundance! Almost all parts of India grows Mangoes except the hilly regions! Mangoes here in our country is eaten as it is,it is used to prepare fruit juices, it is used to prepare dried pulp of mango. Mango shakes and Mango ice creams are modern dishes seen here in India. The unripe mangoes are used as vegetables and used to impart the sour taste to the food. The mango pickles are prepared from unripened mango and it is famous through out the world as "Aam Ka Achar" ! The smallest sized mango which we get here in India is about the size of a Table tennis ball while the biggest one is about a foot ball sized. This big mango is green in colour and is having texture resembling the coconut and is quite tasty to eat! I like Mango and I have attended few Mango exhibitions which are specially held every year where almost all varieties of Mangoes are brought under a single roof! Thanks for the discusiion ! I liked participating in it!

I had been living in Thailand or decades but cn't really tel what the single, national fruit is! There are mangoes o course and many people love durian (which have a mot terrible smell (to the uninitiated, that is). You name it, and we have it, all kinds of bananas and pineapples, but I would anyway pik Mangoes and Durian.

Mango from Philippines are famous. It seems there is not national fruit here because it is too difficult to choose a representative fruit. But I think that lychee is an unique fruit because it just grows in the south of China. I love China

I don`t specifically know what is the national fruit of my country,India, but i can say with certahinity that the most loved and most awaited fruit is also just as in your country, te Mango. There are many varieties but the Alphonso variety which is known as the King of fruits is the most popular and the most delicious also being the most costliest. People don`t mind paying through their teeth to buy this variety. It usually starts coming in the middle of April and the season lasts the entire summer until the start of the monsoon. It is also exported in large quantities in foreign countries.

I wasn't sure so I had to look it up. The USA does not have national fruit. But it should be the apple. Just sayin'. The different states have a state fruit and having grown up in Florida I remember being taught that the orange was our state fruit. However, if I had been in charge of making the selection, it would have been the mango!!
