A birtday party with no Cake?

Hi Guys, I'm just wondering if you ever attended a birthday party without a birthday cake? As for me, i've never seen a birthday party without a cake. Sometimes, there's no other food to share than a cake. And even if there's a lot of food, if there's no cake, it seems like there's no birthday celebration. This is just my observation. How about your observation? Please feel free to share :)

I did ever attended one. There were lots of food except cake. This is because the person responsible for the cake forgotten about it totally. It was too late when we realised the cake is missing! Of course, the child is very disappointed and it became a hot topic every birthday. We were indeed creative to use a bun as a substitute.

If you're an adult its ok n0t to have a birthday cake. But if youre a kid and you have a birthday party its really sad if you dont have one. It will be sad. How will you make a birthday wish without blowing the candle on your birthday cake. Theres no candle that would signify your age if you dont have a cake therefore theres no blowing of candles. I think birthday cakes are less important to adults but to kids a birthday without a cake is like the heaven and earth had fall down to them.

I love the tradition of having a cake but don't actually like them that much! Last year I had cupcakes which was nice, a nod at the big cake but actually tasty. A lot of my family never have cake but we still have a big celebration, in my opinion it's the atmosphere that makes it a party not the cake

I remember one party without a birthday cake... well, not a proper one! We had prepared a huge slice of bread with Nutella (sort of chocolate cream) spread on it, then we sliced it and shared it just like you would do with a conventional cake. It was weird, but we had a great time and it was delicious as well! Apart from that, I think a birthday cake is a must at every party... you're right - there's nothing like a cake when it comes to food sharing!

I agree with you. I haven't attended a birthday party without a cake, be it small or big. It just feels incomplete to spend a party without the part where we sing happy birthday to the celebrant whilst he or she make a wish or blow the candles on the cake.

A birthday party without cake? just can't imagine...not because i love it, bt because in every party we people just wait for that moment when it will have cut off and when we will start to play with it by throwing it on other's face, after all these mad things are over we guys then hardly could recognize other. Belive me frnds it is too much enjoyble. So I cant imagine a birthday party without a cake...

In my family we often do not have a cake as it is not our favorite thing. Instead we might have a pie, or cobbler, or even a steak. Of course that is not the large party with lots of guests.

Hi. jasmin_niza. I don't think that I have ever been to a Birthday party that did not have a birthday cake. I agree with you, it would feel like it is not a birthday then. My youngest daughter's Birthday is this month and I plan to get a Birthday cake for her. This time, I will get a much larger Birthday cake for her.

Birthday cake??? Well I've been celebrating my birthdays without this for many years now. I believe birthday cakes for adults like me is no longer needful. I believe this is only for kids. While I have nothing against having a birthday cake, I believe it is no longer practical to buy a cake which is almost always very expensive and yet very unhealthy.

Hi, I have always been to birthday parties where there is a cake! Here most people love rich chocolate cakes and on birthdays we delve into this temptation. Without a cake, a birthday would seem to be incomplete in my opinion. It adds a very special touch.

I'm completely used to birthday parties with no cake. In kids parties there's always a cake, but as we grow up we start celebrating our birthdays in different ways, and some people will treat their friends to dinner, or to an amusement park, or to a private party. Some choose a cake too and some don't, but I don't have the feeling that it's not a birthday party if there's no cake

I celebrate my birthday by going out for dinner with my family members at a restaurant. Sometimes they will buy me a cake but most of the time, no cakes. We'll just have dinner and chit chat. Cake or no cake, it's still my birthday, lol!

when i had my 18th birthday, i have nothing... totally. no birthday-type of foods, no celebration, and no cake. it was the worse birthday of my life, and yet it was my debut. and it was the only birthday i had with no cake. but even before my birthday i knew we wont have any big celebration and i was thinking that my birthday will be just like any ordinary day. but of course, deep in side im still hoping. oh well, there was none on that day and i just let it pass just like ordinary days.

I've attended many bday parties with no cake. Especiallly as you get older you find many adults are trying to pass on the cake for health reasons. I think the cake thing is just a tradition that we grow up with so it feels like necessity to us. We can always improvise if we feel something sweet is needed. Maybe... a bowl of fruit? Or a salad?

Growing up, my mom made sure that everyone had a cake on their birthday. It's a tradition I picked up and still follow today. I will bake and decorate a cake myself or one of my daughters loves DQ ice cream cakes so she always likes one of those on her birthday. We rarely have birthday parties now that they are older... usually a nice dinner (generally at home but sometimes out) and there is always birthday cake for dessert :)

I have been to some parties that have cupcakes or a huge cookie that is decorated for the birthday. Depends on what the person likes best I guess.

If I'm invited to a birthday party, then I expect a cake there :) Just a given. I have never been to a birthday party without a cake before.

I like cakes, whether there is an occasion or not i wanted to buy a cake whenever i wanted to, if i have money to buy. It's no big deal for me having no cake in a birthday party it's not the cake that matters after all it is the celebrant and it is how you enjoy the party. although it is much nicer to look at the table to have cake to put a candle with and let the celebrant blow on.

Yes, for me it feels like there is no celebration when there is no cake. And it feels like a celebration even if there's not much food but there's a cake.
