Old dogs 'saying'...

There's a saying you can't teach old dogs new tricks. Well, I have a pretty old dog, and even when it was a pup, I have no idea how to teach it a trick so it actually learned by understanding my reaction. She may be old, but she does new tricks to make me feel better when I feel down and dull.
Anyway the point is, I don't believe it's true that old people can't learn new tricks. First of all, because they aren't dogs, and second.. our brains are still functioning, there are millions of brain cells still available for new ideas and abilities. True, old people may have aching bones and muscles but they can still use their brains to the max. And it's inspiring to still believe in improvement.
Only you can say whether you can or you can't..
Happy easter btw ^_^

I like how you thought about this saying.. I agree with you because I know some people in their 60s who are going back to college to learn new things. I don't think they're trying to get a new job, but they want to learn more because they're bored. Old people shouldn't sit around just because the world thinks they can't learn anything new. There is always room for learning. It is a process of life.

I agree with both of you ^_^
Learning doesn't end after finishing school. Learning is not only for those starting their lives. The ability to learn is a great gift that can be useful for the common good and improvement for oneself and society.
And it's true, knowledge is power and can never be stolen. It's one of the most powerful assets that can make one rich not only financially but in all aspects.

Happy Easter oxydegyabo I am an old woman and I learn something new everyday. I have been on my computer for some thirty years and c an do some minor repairs myself. My brains work just fine and serve me well if you notice I have over 40000 points here and am the leader, so not bad for a woman 84 going on 85. Yes we can learn and do learn new tricks. so much crap about older people is just that: CRAP.we are not dogs and most of us are neither senile or have Alzheimer disease either. I learned how to reset the modem and router for my computer myself.so now when we have a power failure I do not have to call my son just to do a simple job of pulling out two wires and re plugging them in to reset so I will be back on the net.We older ones learn by doing things ourselves step by step.

That's good to hear. Not only are you better than me in mylot but there are computer problems that takes me some time to fix, mostly because the computer I use crashes or lags, so I seldom have to reboot it over and over.
I also knew a distant relative, he's around 70 and he contests us in a card memorizing game where he always wins! It would be nice if the society doesn't treat old people so poorly. There are people and laws that forces resignation to those who are still able to work well. And I think it's wrong for them to enforce such because this discriminates their abilities and hinders the opportunities for them.
Kudos to you Hatley for leading a fulfilling life, and being a great inspiration... especially to me~
Happy Easter too!

That's nice to hear that your dad's open to developing technology. My dad is also learning how to make photo edits and videos but not at photoshop level. He likes making collages as his computer's wallpaper from time to time.
Advice your father to take a break every thirty minutes and stretch those tired limbs. It's also good for the eye to take its focus away from the monitor too.
