@bhaby: I haven't tried it with any other fruit. For pineapples, it's salt and vinegar for me. Maybe I should try it sometime.

Wow! Would it really taste better eating it with pineapple? I tried it with the turnip but I really find the taste weird. @glorya. Nice of us to bump here again. And it is no surprising that the topic is about food. Did you went home to Baguio? It is the first day of work from a very long weekend and I don't feel like working.. I really feel sleepy...

If we're talking about the same thing here I think it was called 'terasi' in Indonesia. We always pair it with chillis, I love shrimp paste although many people also hate the smell of it, it'll wake your neighbor in the morning, lol.

There's many kind of terasi, it also came up wet and sticky like paste (terasi from south sumatera), maybe in east java they called it 'petis'.

some of my favorite dishes have sauteed shrimp paste in it. chilli hot shrimp paste with raw green mangoes, pinakbet and kare-kare (both are vegetable mix and meat stew), thai fried rice with shrimp paste, binagoongang baboy (stir fried pork strips with sauteed shrimp paste), and bicol express. so far i can enjoy it with gusto and without fear of allergies as i have never had them on food. but then again, one can't have too much. hehe

Hi Bhaby! How was your Easter holiday? I do love shrimp paste specially with green mangoes. It taste really yummy with it. I am really amaze that in some areas they also use it as a dip for turnips. In my province we usually dip turnips with just vinegar and salt. Oh well, I guess each of us has our own preferences!

I was supposed to work at Mylot this weekend, just to kill time at home. But I was introduced to Plants vs Zombies. And instantly I was addicted to it. I know it is quite late to learn about the game. It was a frenzy a couple of years ago. I just downloaded the game on line because my son insist that we play some online games.

Sounds dangerously tasty. But it doesn't look very appetizing to be honest. Still, appearance never keeps me from tasting something. I love trying new foods, and I would definitely try this if they had it here.

River Mahanadi and the longest dam of Asia, HIRAKUD DAM, is very close to my home, so we get fresh shrimp in the fish market though at 400 rupees per kg, me and hubby used to eat, i cooked it in different ways, but for past few years it is once a month, we get itching on palms after eating, might be this is due to diabetes now and shrimp triggers it some how.. Thank you so much for sharing bhaby Happy posting, cheers. Namastey. Kalyani

I have never tried it but it sounds good. But I have my own allergy issues and I'm finding that no matter how much I love something, it's not worth going through the pains of the itching and hives. If it's bad enough that you end up going to the hospital, i'd see if you can find something similar to it that doesn't contain the ingredients that cause you to react.
