I just had this most random questionpop into my head today. You see, I have been on successive night shifts at the hospital and my body clock has been accustomed to the shifting. Then again, when I do have the chance to take a nap, I can't because I am not tired yet. I'm the only left who is awake with nothing else to do but play with my iPod touch.
So what do you do when you can't go to sleep?

It is maybe that because I am a student that this actually works for me. When I can't sleep, I usually take up a book and go study. Atleast it is much better than me just sitting there wasting time. What usually happen afterwards though is that, I usually easily get tired of studying and then is when I actually drop asleep. So that is my mehtod to actually go sleep when I am not yet tired or I just find it difficult sleeping.

If I can’t sleep, I usually play Sudoku on my cellphone or read a pocket book. I sometimes just lay in bed, close my eyes and dream about my dream house. In this process, I find myself eventually sleeping.

If I have to get up early the next morning, I will read something that I am really not like or very boring such as old magazines. Sometime I will recite words of foreign language.
If I don't have to get up early the next morning, I will play PC games, watch movie, or play with my smart phone. I can always kill time easily.

Well, try to read books so you can sleep. For me, whenever I can't sleep at night i dragged myself to make some push-ups to make me tired. Often, I use to spent my time surfing the net until I feel sleepy.

I have difficulties falling asleep all the time, and I think it's mainly because I think too much. People keep saying "just stop thinking", but I believe that is impossible for me. I guess what I try to do is think about stuff that are quite superficial, and not at all important. I think about fun stuff, and I think it makes my mind more at ease. It helps a little, though I still can't fall asleep quite fast.

When I have a hard time sleeping I would just turn on the tv. Watching tv helps me out a lot when sleeping, or trying to sleep. Recently I have to say, I haven't had any problems sleeping. But in my situation watching tv until I fall asleep work for me.

When I don't feel sleepy during night then I listen to music, most of the time old songs of Lata Mangeshkar, or else soft music. If not music then I read newspaper, because usually in the morning I don't get time to read newspaper as I am busy with the household.

If it's okay at your work place, maybe you should bring a book to read. It's a good way of passing time. You can also try straightening out the place. I usually clean when all else fails, and when the place is all clean and you're a little tired from the work, the fresh air lulls me to sleep.

I usually have a late night. When I am usually at the state of "somewhat insomnia," I don't force myself to sleep because I only get headache. I only get something to read, reading can sometimes be boring and it can make you sleepy actually. Sometimes, I surf the net but it takes away my somnolence, especially if I enjoy surfing. The most effective way to make me sleep is to drink milk. I am not sure if it will work for everyone but it really works for me

For an insomniac like me, the greatest cure is to listen to pleasant classical music. I have downloaded some classical pieces to my phone and play them when I'm in bed. I have a ton of the said category of songs and I usually listen for a couple of pieces before succumbing to sleep.
If the music didn't work, books usually do. I have them at my hand's reach and try to tire my eyes or finish the book in order to keep myself from suspense. I also try the method of surfing the net for the same purpose.
I don't know but milk really doesn't help me. But usually, a good snack does.

It always be a big problem that you are not able to fall asleep, sometimes makes you frustrated.
In my case, if I have tried hard enough to push myself into dream but failed, I would get up to watch some TV programs or a movie on computer. To keep focus on watching is helpful to make me get tired enough to feel sleepy. And that would bring me to dream soon.

I am with you. I work nights at a hospital. 7 on 7 off. If I really need to sleep but can't I do benadryl. Or I'll have me a mixed drink to relax enough to fall asleep. I also have an ipod and I keep it handy. If I just absolutely can't sleep I chat with friends on it... or I check e-mails on it, or I do surveys and posts. Unfortunately it comes with the job when you work graves. You just do what you can to rest when you're ready.
