I've been struggling to lose weight for the past year and sad to say, I am not succeeding! I used to be overweight for only a few pounds, now I am overweight by 20 pounds and I feel so unhappy about it. I know I need to do something before it's too late, not just for aesthetic reasons, but for health reasons. I started taking this diet pills( I don't know if I can tell its name/brand here)because it is safe(so it says)it is Halal and Kosher approved. I hope this will really help me shed my excess fats.

hi mariacecilia13... I appreciate all your effort to lose your weight, but I hope you'll be patient to face this. I advice you to not be hurry against the overweight, instan way usually not works properly. DO it slowly, even you're really sad. Exercise and consume a healthy food is best way. You may need guidance from the doctor to make sure you have a good diet to support your struggling. I know you can do it

This catches my attention since I am now on my diet. .
My goal is simple, I wanna lose my tummy fats and love handles, and replace it with flat stomach or even 6pack (If I were lucky) lol.
What I'm doing is, instead of 3meals a day, I divided it to 6x a day, all is small meals, so that I can't feel hungry or starving. On every meals I take 2 glasses of water, so I feel full fast. I am eating less fats and more protein. Eat lots of fruits, they said, have apple to be your snack, and an apple before your meal because apple can reduce your cravings, and it is good for you too. :)
I am doing a Cardio exercise everyday, Jumping Rope, Push ups, shadow boxing, etc. I don't have any access to gym so I am doing my routine with just my body weight. You just need to be devoted, and must have a strong goal, if you don't then it is useless because you'll end up giving up.
for exercise at home routine you can always check things on youtube, just do whatever they're doing.
I hope this helps.

WOW! Thank you for your informative response! You are very much right, people who are targeting to lose weight needs to have a goal, or else they are just wasting their time, I am not dreaming of having a six pack abs, LOL! Just flat stomach will do, hehehe.
So apple can help reduce cravings? I'll surely try stocking apple in the ref!
Thanks for the response again! =)

Yep, that's what they say. :)
and try to look for "PILATES" if you want to exercise your body, It is common for girls, and it can help you to have that "flat stomach" :) just discipline yourself and you'll be ok.
Good Luck! :)

As of now, I haven't thought of doing a regular exercise, the only regular exercise I can say I am doing right now, is that, I walk 1.2 km everyday to and from work. Thanks for the response. =)

I hope I can lose at least five pounds with that diet pill, I mean, it is the most expensive slimming pill I ever tried so I am hoping it really works, especially with the testimonials that I read about it.
Tanks for the response. =)

If you want to loose weight, you should be determined to practice self-discipline first. Then be commited to avoid all fats and oil from your food. Take more green and leafy vegetables and fruits. You can even try to observed your diet within 100 days. Take a walk everyday and sweat out. Make a journal if you want to. Believe me, it will work. Then you can say, bye bye fats.

EAT a little..thats the best secret to losing weight. but for me, i wont compromise my voracious appetite just to get a slim figure. Id rather stay chubby than to compromise the pleasure food brings me.

take a walk after each meal, eat low sugar and low fat food. don't spend too long time sitting. one diet book said just eating banana for all breakfast is helpful for losing weight.

Why not? Banana is certainly cheaper compared to other fruits so might as well give it a try too, aside from apples. The problem is that, I sit almost 8 hours because of my job. Thanks for the response. =)

I am in the same boat. But I have already lost 78 lbs and still have 60 to go. But mine seems to have to stopped for now.The main thing is not to give up.It didn't come on overnight and we are not going to lose it overnight.I wish we could.I have no problem with the eating less.Exercise is the hardest for me.It's hard to do everyday.Things come up and you don't exercise and then before you know you're not exercising anymore.Keep your head up and stay strong. It will come off.Just taking a little extra time. It's being stubborn that's what I keep myself anyway.

I used to do some stomach crunches every morning, like I do 30-50 times before I leave my bed in the morning. It really works, but then, the problem was that, I am not so serious with it, now I regret why I didn't continue doing it. =(
Thanks for the response.

I went through the same problem. I had always been thin and then the more I smoked I started gaining weight. Until I was 80 pounds over. I finally decided one day it wasn't me and that no food or or addiction was worth feeling that terrible. So I didn what most people don't do. I gave it all up at the same time. I took up stairs, quit smoking cold turkey, and quit eating sweets all at the same time. I'm very thin and happy now, I can breathe better, and you know what? If I crave something sweet, I go for fruit and I don't miss candy or chocolate or anything else one bit. You can do it, you just have to really want it and you have to be willing to face some truths.

I thought smoking can make people thin. Anyway, it is good fir you that you were able to stop smoking not just because you want to lose weight but because you finally realize that it is not good for your health. Thanks for the encouragement and of course for the response. =)

Hey, you are not alone. I used to be overweight and everything, but I finally decided one day I want to lose my weight. I can give you a few pointers. First of all, stop taking the diet pills. They never work, even if they are safe. You can lose fat alone. Here are my recommendations:
1) Start jogging a little bit
Just a thirty minute jog every day will help you burn massive calories in order to lose weight. Try doing some sprints at the end of the job too if you want to burn a little extra (which adds up over time).
2) Eat more vegetables and whole grains
Vegetables have fiber which make you fuller (you have probably learned that over and over again, but it is true) and whole grains also have fiber as well as complex carbohydrates, which are harder to digest (this is a good thing since they release energy slower than processed grains like white bread which temporarily give you energy, but you are hungry again in a short period of time) and keep you fuller for longer.
3) This is a big one - DON'T SKIP MEALS!!!
People often skip meals in order to cut back on calories...BIG MISTAKE. What they actually do is starve themselves and they risk pigging out on the next meal since their bodies need the calories. Also, skipping meals slows down your metabolism since your body can't expend as much energy since it is running on reserve.
4) This goes hand in hand with number 3 - Don't starve yourself
If you starve yourself, your body goes into starvation mode (great name, right?) which it uses its last energy to hang on to its fat. It will cannibalize your muscle mass (I know it's disgusting) to make sure it has energy. Muscle is good because it burns calories to maintain. I do not know how much, but a pretty accepted number is around 50 calories per pound? (Don't quote me on that)
5) Lift weights
This is a big one. I assume you are female (because of your name Maria). If you are not female then you should have no problem with this. Most females, I am sure, are afraid they will get big and bulky like a bodybuilder if they do so. That is completely false. The thing that gets guys big when they lift weights is a hormone called Testosterone. You are female (I assume) and your hormone is Estrogen. Since you do not have as much Testosterone, you will not get big and bulky. Those female bodybuilders take steroids and testosterone to get big. Anyway, you will definitely burn calories since your body needs to repair itself after you lift weights. Also, do not believe in that "toning" stuff you hear. There is no such thing. If you want to get tighter arms and everything, you must lose bodyfat. Use heavier weights (You should be able to do 10 reps of an exercise but struggle a little bit on the tenth rep, this also means you will be using different weights for some exercises) those are the ones that make you burn calories.
6) Don't overtrain
This is a lesser known one. This is very common since people want to lose weight faster. This next piece of advice is very important: DO NOT LOSE MORE THAN 1-2 POUNDS A WEEK, RAPID WEIGHT LOSS IS VERY BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH. Also, the overtraining will set you back in the long run. So do a lot, but don't do too much
7) This is the most important - Have a good attitude and stay motivated
Weight loss should be a slow, gradual process (as mentioned earlier, I will mention it again since it's so important: LOSE NO MORE THAN 1-2 POUNDS A WEEK). This is going to be long, but once you reach your target, it will have been well worth it. Also, do not make a temporary lifestyle change, the eating healthy should be perminant.
8) This is a no-brainer, but - Eat Healthy
It is okay to set aside one day a week to treat yourself (It's not a free for all, just a small treat). Make sure you eat very healthy or else you will end up gaining the weight back.
There are my tips. I hope I can help you in some way.

Wow! You really know how to teach people to lose weight! I sometimes skip meals because I believe it can help me lose weight, though I usually hear fro others that it is not a good practice and it will never help me lose weight, guess I am just stubborn. =(
I once achieved losing 5 pounds in a month, but the pounds I shed came back, with a vengeance, LOL!
Thank you for all the suggestions and of course for the response. =)
