Tattoo Over Scars

Hi guys!
I've had these scars near my anklet, those were from my childhood days. Too bad I was not careful enough during those time so I'm carrying these scars over years. Anyway, while doing a research about scars, I came across the idea of getting tattoos over it. Anyone who probably experienced this, or at least you have some ideas to share with me? Will the ink holds on scar tissues? Is it really possible to hide scars thru tattoos since surgery can be a bit expensive as compared to getting tattoos. Thanks!

I was thinking of doing this. I have a scar on my leg from a few years ago when I was hit by a drunk driver on my bike. My legs were perfect before that. I'm very subconscious about it and now that summer is coming I want to wear shorts without thinking about my scar. It's discolored in some spots.
I've been wanting another tattoo for years anyway but not sure what I want to get. I thought of going to a tattoo shop to see if they can just fill it in the same color as my skin but I haven't done it yet.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to remember this. but not all bad memories have to remain bad. You can do something to reach out against drunk drivers, let this scar be your push. Get a tattoo over it if you want but you probably still wont forget what you are trying to cover with it. Rather than cover it, highlight it in your mind, make a difference. things happen to us for reasons even the bad ones. Some people that get hit by drunk drivers don't get the opportunity to do so. there family members are left behind with that anger. And trying to fight that fight. Sorry this happened to you.

hey dreamy1!
yeah i've been thinking of that as well, at least it won't be noticeable when they r gonna used the same color as your skin. I talked to a tattoo artist but didn't have it in mind. I'll try to check on him and see if that is possible. I'll be getting a tattoo, probably by next week...let see:)

I was actually wondering about this before, but I never found a for-sure answer. I think it might depend on the scars, how deep they are and how much they stick out.

To me scars are like little memories. Then again so are tattoos even though I have none of those yet. I think this would be an interesting idea to cover your scars. It probably depends on how bad the scars are though if it would hide them or define them more.

Well I think it is more painful hahah. I think you skin on this place is not the same so you have to talk with somebody who makes tattoo like an artist. I have a tattoo on my ribs and it was ok. And looks really good. I just don't know if it would be good on a scar.
Talto to some artist just them can explain better.

Wow, that’s a nice idea! I am also thinking of getting one on left leg this summer. But I am afraid of the needle.

I don't really know if there's adverse effects of putting a tattoo on a scar, or if like you said the ink would hold. I have a friend who had a tattoo around the scar. The scar was incorporated into the design. But I think if the scar hasn't become keloidal, then I guess it would be okay to have a tattoo over it. They're still skin so it can be tattooed over :)

I also have scars, but haven't think of getting a tattoo over it. That maybe a good idea. But you should think about what would be the design that fits the size of the scar or that will totally hide it. And hoping that you will not regret after having it. Cause you cannot easily erase it, it will be another scar for you. Have a nice summer day!

Dear have you ever asked a skin doctor if you can really do that over a scar? If so you should definitely do it because if you were a child and still being an adult can't forget, means this scar really bothers you.
We always should accept the way we are but there are things that are off limits and we just have to fix somehow.
I fidn scars really attractive but if you don't like it, change it for something that you do! :)
I think it will be great.
You'll always look where, the ankles? And see a tatoo, a drawing of something you really like :)
I'll tatoo V-E-G-A-N one day, I don't know where but probably in the arm.

Definitely depends on the scar but more than that it depends on the tattoo artist. Get one that will expand your vision and make it truly a work of art. The ink will hold but you want a design that fits with your tatto and makes it pop rather than look weird. Good luck
