or butter. either one. yes, I know its dumb. But I can hardly eat anything without some sort of margarine or butter. Do you know how many things are no good without it? Day before yesterday, I sent son to the store with a list. we were total out of margarine. no butter either, since I rarely buy or use butter. anyway, margarine was on the list. He didnt see it or missed it some how. When he comes home most days hes so tired he just goes to bed and dont really like going any where. I went in the kitchen just now to get something to eat. I thought of toast. love toast, cant have it, NO margarine thought of making grilled cheese, no margarine. mac and cheese...not good without margarine in it. Sons been on this diet kick lately, so I ended up having a sandwich and soup. Anyway, I know its a dumb discussion, but have you thought of many things we need margarine to make? or butter. Used to be a song called "pass the biscuits, please" and in it the guy says, " I just cant eat without bread" well im the same way about bread and margarine. Can you eat without bread? My hubby could not eat without a glass of milk with his meal. I cant tell you how many waitresses didnt get tipped over forgeting his milk, even though he had coffee also. Believe me, they really missed out because he was a big tipper when they brought everything he ordered. LOL! Some waitresses knew him and didnt forget. lots of times he gave them extra for xmas, etc. when he knew and liked one. So, is there something you cant eat without?

Hi bunnybon Something about cheese that I have to have in the refrigerator at all times. I can put cheese just about in anything at any time during any meal. I may not want it at the moment but if I know it is not in the house I will be upset because then is when I really, really want it. lol

I can't eat without utensils. No, really! I must say margarine or butter is a big one. I told my daughter PLEASE fix the eggs with butter. I asked the waitress at the restaurant, "Can you ask the cook to put alittle butter on the hashbrowns so they aren't so dry. I saw the cook looking at me. And you know everytime I go in there now and have hashbrowns I notice the margarine is added. Like he learned or something. Hehehe

You know what? We have no butter or margarine in our home. I never, ever use either. If a recipe calls for one or the other, I use olive or canola oil. For a grilled sandwich, try using a very light amount of mayo. Works great. For dinners that have bread, or rolls, we serve them Italian style, with olive oil and herbs for dipping.

There's a lot you can do with mayo! Have you ever watched Paula Deen on the Food Network? That's one of her secret ingredients. I don't know about using it to fry with though.... When you use a small amount to grill sandwiches, you get a really nice eggy taste. Give it a try, let me know what you think. Oh...and make sure it's mayo and not salad dressing!

I can't live without sugar and salt. I cooked everything, soup, meal, dessert, everything with pouring sugar and salt. Even when the recipe says it need no sugar or no salt I will add them.

You know what??...it's margarine also for me. It seems to be on the kitchen bench all day or I have to put it away all throughout the day. I have it on toast and in sandwiches. I use a teflon pan...I just use a little marg as required. It takes me ages to get through a tub because even though I use it all the time...I only use a little...a really minimal amount.

we always buy margarine on sale so we always have one in the freezer. i have made mac and cheese without margarine. we only shop once a week so we often run out of stuff so we just have learned to adapt.

LOL Silly bunnybon! Well, without butter, you can't make certain things either! Such as mashed potatoes or corn bread. Same goes with milk! I don't like the taste of milk but I have to have it to make things too. My grandparents were big time milk drinkers too and had it with every meal. It must be something to do with the times because a lot of older folks drink milk with their meals. I used to when I was younger but grew to not like it so much. My hubby is like yours, he loves bread and has to have it with almost every meal. I try to take it away sometimes because it's so fattening (or so I heard) and sometimes he'll go along with it and sometimes not.

mostly my late hubby was old fashioned in a lot of ways that it counted. but new in ways of the world concerning women. always had to have his milk. i stopped caring for milk since i grew up.

Hm, well this is not exactly what you were asking, but I know I just wouldn't want to give up cheese. I had to take all dairy products out of my diet for 3 months, and the one I decided was going back IN no matter what, was cheese.

HI BON, I WOULD BE LIKE U IF I WAS OUT OF BUTTER or margarine. I use it alot to cook with. I love bread but i can eat w/out it except for breakfast. I don't need it so i have learned to do w/out it other meals. My weakness is cornbread w/veggies. If i don't make any i just do w/out. Don't like loaf bread or rolls, biscuits etc. w/veggies. Hope u are feeling better. take care. hugs.

Recently I started to substitute the butter or margarine with cream cheese when I eat sandwiches. When you use the plain brand its as good as butter or margarine but does not contain as much fat so its a healthy choice too.

Its horrible to run out of butter, you gotta have butter. You gotta have bread too, love it. I have a friend who follows the Atkins diet. I couldn't do it, gotta have bread. You always have to keep stocked with bread, milk, cheese, eggs and butter. If you have at least that, you can eat.

I do not think so. I am very fond of bread, but I can also go forever without it. We use real butter, but I cut that back severely. If I wanted toast and we had no butter, I would peanut butter on it. If I would want a grilled cheese without butter I would put mayo or Miracle whip on it.

i have had toast with just mayo on it but prefer margarine melting in it. our peanut butter has been sadly ignored and even though theres very little there, i was afraid of it. since its been in the cupboard for a while. unsure how long should have put it in frig, but then, it dont spread well.

I've made quite a few adjustments in the interest of weight control so I use butter-flavored pan spray on the bread for a toasted cheese sandwich. What about jelly or jam for your toast? When I buy margarine I wait till it's on sale and buy 3 or more tubs then put all but one in the freezer. When I'm on the last one I look for sales to replenish my supply. There's nothing I really can't eat a meal without except water. I love water and there's nothing better to wash stuff down than a nice cold glass of water!

Oh I love some butter....everything is better with it..I;m the same way about cheese too...I love it. I think that once we get used to certain things...we tend to require it..lol...when I was little..I hated salt. I could taste the smallest pinch..it was terrible to me. Over the years of a little here and there...even though I didn't like it..I guess I aquired a taste for it..now..I like salt..not a huge amount..but some. I guess that and a peach tea with my meals is a must.

We seem to have a problem with keeping margarine or butter in our house as well. However, when I take the time to try to come up with one thing that I just can't eat without, I really can't think of once specific thing. What I drink with my meal depends on what I am eating and not all meals that I eat require having bread with them. However, it could simply be that I am just an oddball when it comes to my habits.

nope lots of people dont have to have a certain thing to eat. my son says ive forgotten how many times we had to make do without things. but i say, hey, thats when we had no money to buy certain foods right away now we do!
26 Apr 11
im like you, i use butter for alot of things. alot of people think margarine is better for us than butter, but in fact its not. margarine is full of chemicals which in a way is worse than fat. also butter tastes alot better than margarine and i have to have butter/margarine on bread or toast, hate it dry.
