Favourite Flavour Combinations.

I love to cook, and I also like to try out new flavor combination's too. One of my Husband's favourite foods is chocolate chip Muffins, and I love to make them, but last night, I wanted to change them up a little bit. So I made Lemon Chocolate Chip Muffins. I had a couple of Lemons that needed using up, so I grated the zest of one lemon into the batter, and added the juice from 2 lemons. I was a little worried that the Lemon taste would overpower the chocolate, or vice versa, but they turned out wonderfully! The Lemon and chocolate flavors combined so well! I now have some gorgeous muffins sitting in a tin on my kitchen counter, just waiting to be eaten. Given that my husband tried one before work this morning, and declared them 'Fabulous' I don't think they'll be there for long lol. What flavour combination's do you like the best?

Hi misplacedbrit! That is an interesting combination. I am not a fan of lemon in cakes, only in lemonade. I do love Chocolate Chip Muffins though. I don't usually bake my own muffins. I am a cake baker, although shamefully not from scratch!I never thought I was any good at baking. I think I am a better cook!

Hi Opal. I always used to say that I was never a fan of Lemon either, but I tried it in baking and it's a much milder flavour than I was expecting, and really yummy! I always loved baking, I used to help my mom as a little girl, though of course, the favourite part was licking the bowl clean when she'd finished mixing the batter lol. As I got older, I started making my own cakes and cupcakes and such. It wasn't until I had kids of my own that I really got into baking. The past few years I've started trying new recipes for both baking and cooking and had a ball in doing so. One thing that I'm no good at is decorating cakes. I'd LOVE to be able to do that, but I always find myself at a less as to what to do with them LOL. I see photos of cakes and cupcakes that my friends have made, and think 'Wow, I wish I could do that!' Maybe I'll start doing it more often and getting some practice in. After all, they do say practice makes perfect.

Glad they turned out well. I would have probably added pecans, i love them in anything. I'm always adding something extra to things i cook. I think that's what good cooks do & i have been told i'm a good cook.

I like Pecans too, though I much prefer Almonds. I like adding different things to recipes and such too, but I do wonder why, or how it took me so long to try the combination of Chocolate and Lemon lol.
