We have been doing our family tree and when we started we joked saying we might find skeletons in the cupboards.
Well we did! nowadays it does not seem so bad as it was in those days. Having a child out of wedlock. or in other words having a baby before you got married.
We discovered that my husbands Grandmother was illegitamate. Her Mum had her and because she was not married she (the baby) lived with her Grandparents who brought her up.
Now if you are following this you will realise that it is my Mother in Laws Mum who was the baby.
My Mother in law is 99 years old next month and has been interested in how far back we have traced the family. We are sure that she has no idea about this. We keep changing our minds whether to tell her or not bearing in mind that even the the 70s it was not the done thing to have a child out of marriage and Mum is 99.

hi Mallen look I am 85 and love genealogy so tell mom as I think she is old enough now to bear up under it. Did you go to rootsweb.com to do your free searching as the web is a great place to get a lot of great information on your family tree members. I have found a lot of skeletons myself b ut thats part of genealogy and life too.
