The scammers are at it again!!! Heard this on the news tonight. If you do a search for anything related to the Royal Wedding, the link might take you to a site telling you that you need to download the XP Antispywear App to protect your computer. DO NOT DOWNLOAD as it is bogus "scareware" & your computer gets hacked!!!

This one is an email titled "Kate's Wedding Dress Details - Leaked!" or "Prince William's Bachelor Party Photos!" Opening these means you will be spammed!!!
I know most of you are too smart for either of these, but I still wanted to share this info so you will be EXTRA aware!!! What do you do to protect yourself & your computer from scammers & spammers???

LadyM, it's a shame she even has to try to hide it. People should respect her privacy and help her look forward to her wedding, not be stressed trying to keep the details private. It's a real shame that the public and the press dominate and make miserable the lives of the royals and other celebrities, it should be illegal.

I agree 10,000% dragon!!! I'm finding it sickening the way the press has been treating the Royal Wedding!!! She should NOT have to hide her dress or who is creating her dress. I find it ridiculous that she feels the need to throw away 3 different types of material & lace every night in order to keep the vultures from ruining her day!!! ALSO, I am soooo freakin sick of hearing about how she's getting too skinny!!! My God, she's a size 6 & 6 is NOT an unhealthy size. I was a size 6 when I was her age & I NEVER starved myself!!! If she had put on 2 pounds since getting engaged, they'd be accusing her of being pregnant. LEAVE THE GIRL ALONE!!! I've learned that God didn't put me here to be successful...I would be shooting at the press at every chance I had!!!

Actually, I would NOT believe there was a leaked picture. I have been TOTALLY impressed with Kate's ability to hide her dress from the public & I have NO desire to see it before the wedding!!!!

hello! thanks for this info! As a general precaution, I don't download anything from the internet that I don't need, especially when they say it's a "Special Offer" or some such. If it says it's an special software I'm not familiar of, I don't believe it, because we already have an anti-virus software and almost anything imaginable to protect our PC. I am paranoid about almost anything from the net and I make sure that everything I download is safe. :D

I'm pretty much the same. If I run across something new that sounds even remotely tempting, I wait a few weeks to see if anything comes out saying it's a scam...or wait on a friend to say I got tricked!!! I depend more on my friends & especially my friends here at myLot to keep me informed on "the good, the bad & the ugly" of the internet!!! That system has NEVER let me down!!!!

I'm not interested in gossipy things,
so would just delete those emails,
but thanks for the warning, anyway.

I'm one of those people that even if I wouldn't do it, I'd like to know about it!!! My Dad is 87 years old & I'm always telling him about the latest elder scams just in case they try & scam him!!! He is forever saying...I'm not dumb enough to fall for that & I like to think he isn't. However, the scammers are experts at what they do & might be able to convince him if he wasn't aware of the scam. A little "extra" precaution never hurt anyone. Anyway, I feel it's better to hear it & not need it than need it & not hear it!!!

I am interested in the wedding...However, I want to see everything as it unfolds in realtime!!! PLUS I really do NOT care what Wills does at his bachelor party!!! Actually, I thought a bunch of guys went to the North Pole for his party!!! I'm so paranoid about hackers, I don't think I'd fall for this without hearing about it. Having heard about it, I most definitely won't get caught up in it. If this saves only one computer, it will be worth sharing!!!!
