Given the stink in our place due to our roommate, I have to use air freshener constantly and I know that they can be toxic.
So I'm looking for a natural replacement to kill the stink in our place. I can't afford much for the length of time that he's going to be here, which is another month.
Does anyone know of something natural to use? Something maybe that I have in my house that I don't have to go out and get?
I don't have much in my house, so I'm looking for options. I can't keep spraying considering that I have pets here.
Any suggestions?

Hi. kris182_2000. I use Air Wick's air fresher sprays. I have about five or six of them, that I have bought this month. They are made as a natural spray. You could also try using Febreze Noticeables. I use this right now, and it makes my house smell really good. You will have to buy the outlet and the refill. Usually you can get this as a set at Walmart. I don't like a smelly person especially when it is hot. Maybe your roommate just needs to take a good old shower or a bath? If not, then they should go to the doctor to find out what is causing their body odor. Also try Lysol, it gets rid of strong odors and it rids your home of mildew odors. I also use this when we all get really sick with a cold or the Flu Virus too.

He refuses to take a shower. He wont let air into his room. He hasn't showered in about 6 months.
But as I said, I need natural alternatives due to our pets. My cat is extremely sensitive to smells and he doesn't even tolerate a light spray of air freshener.

I would check thrift shops and yard sales for cologne for cheap. I would sprinkle it on his floor and bed or put it on cotton balls and hide them in his closet. I think he wants to gross you out so badly that you throw him out and do not make him pay what he owes you.

Put cinnamon, cloves and citrus peels in a pan of water and simmer on back of your stove. Set vinegar in saucers around his room or in the hall way. Put vanilla on cotton balls and put it around like in air vents, etc. Little dishes of used coffee grounds absorb odors and help prevent mold in refrigerators that are in storage. I hope this helps.

Coffee grounds and vinegar are all I have, so I'll try those. But not in his room. I tried putting an odor absorber in his room and he threw it around and upset it. So anything put in there will be destroyed.

Can you use orange peels or something like that? It seems like if you can put them in something and heat them up somehow it might help. I hope that you can find something like that to help. Good luck!

Just placing camphor in the corners may help. Camphor evaporates in the normal room temperature. It should be affordable too, so even if your room mate throws them away, you can replace immediately. (Or make powder of it and spread in the room, in the shelves and in the lofts.)
However, I don't find it a healthy habit of your room mate. Don't worry. Soon he'll need you all, because of his unhealthy habits. (Make him realize, at that time. TIME only can teach some important lessons.)

coal. this works for cars and fridge to rid the smell. I think because the coal absorb the odor. Not sure if it can be used for houses/room also.

hello, try hiding pieces of activated charcoal in places he does not know or can't get to, seriously it will remove odor not just by masking it but by actual absorption. Now a cheap way to mask the odor is orange or any citrus peel again hide it and hope he won't get to it, think the combination of masking and absorbing odor is a good idea and not only pet friendly it is eco- friendly as well, good luck friend and hope you get the stink out
