I am watching over my Twinkle and her babies, she sometimes wants her privacy. The kittens are growing and their eyes are beginning to open.I just stare at them because the are so cute and adorable. How i love to have them here. I cant wait to have them out of my draw since they are dirtying everything.but i cant complain so far.She is a wonderful mom and we are happy to share her joy. They will be exactly one week old tomorrow. Will post some photos of them here.

I know that some people say don't handle kittens, but actually, if kittens aren't handled some they never are comfortable being handled. If kittens aren't handled from at least 2 weeks to 7 weeks and about 40 minutes a day, they will never truly become comfortable with humans (I got that from a book by Jake Page called Do Cats Hear With Their Feet?) I do know that I have a lot of cats, and I have some feral cats, and you sure don't want those kittens to ever be like they are. So, at least let your hand and some worn clothes be put in the drawer so they can smell you, because their sense of smell is about their best developed sense besides touch right now. And next week, start handling them at least 40 minutes a day - and they will start playing soon after that 2 weeks of age, so that can also be play time! The black and white kitten in my avatar was rescued at a week old, we had to bottle feed him and all, needless to say, he's very much a people oriented cat!

You are not supposed to handle the kittens for a few days because they have to bond with the mother. But sometimes it is necessary. I grabbed one kitten even before she left the womb because she would have fallen from a shelf down to the floor. Also, my first-timer, Chief, didn't understand what she was supposed to do when her kittens came. She was obviously very frightened and upset. I picked up the kittens and put them on the bed. Then I picked up Chief, held her down on the bed, and brought the kittens to her nipples. At that point, her instincts finally kicked in. She has become an excellent mother.

I have had a cat mom with her kittens at home a couple of times. I am sure the mom will let you touch her kittens soon, but why not caress her often, as she might need that. I just saw that you posted this some time ago, so the kittens must be older - they are absolutely adorable when they are about four weeks old.. Enjoy the babies..
