Is it natural to avoid problems?

There is this one thing that I can't make myself do because I just don't want to do it. I wonder what it takes for me to get my act together and face the task at hand. I wonder if it is natural to avoid problems because in reality, escape is easier than to pull through tough times. Some times there is no escape, like health problems or jail.. but when your boss/teacher assigns you a project, you can always quit. What really keeps us in the institution of our career, school, family and society? Is it the need for a living? Is it a desire to achieve? The desire for respect? Something else?

A few things come to mind that I would like to share. One is from John Milton Fogg, kinda famous guy. He told me once, that you always do what is most important to you at the time. If something else was more important then what you were doing, you would go and do that. It is the at the time part that bothered me, because we often get lost in the now, and forget to prepare for the future.
The other was from another kind of famous guy, named Brian Tracy. Something about, eating frogs, if you start each day by eating a live frog, that would be the worst thing that could happen to you. And everything else would be easy afterwards, so take your most pressing problem, and that would be your frog. Now, the long you look at your frog, the harder it will be to eat it, and if you have two frogs, eat the uglier one first.
Another good one, from another kind of famous person, Jim Rohn. Learn more skills, and bring your skill to the market place. When you learn to solve certain kinds of problems that increases your skill, the more skill you have the more money you can make. Or something to that effect.
I could think of a few others that are really good. For my own thoughts though. Problems are a part of life, they are natural, but the block us from achieving our goals, the sooner we overcome them, the sooner we get back on track.
Sincerely and With Appreciation.

My best advice in all areas of life that you want to improve, is do what is expected of you, plus a little more. One of the best ways to excel at any thing.
Best of luck with your school work, and making money on the side, remember profits are better then wages, and it only takes one idea to rock the world.
Sincerely and With Appreciation.

nice examples. at this moment i am doing only school work but i'm trying to make money as well. in a couple months, the school work will be over and i will be off on my own. right now all that matters to me is getting throughh school and I think of the days after as freedom. but they won't be, because i will have to do something.
i hope that whatever i am doing now will make my future a bit easier.

Sometimes, it might seems easier to avoid problems, but it's not, as the problem can follow you until you decide to clear it up.
There can be different reasons to avoid them: one of them is fear. Some people feel fear when they are advised about an existing problem and just try to run away, because nobody likes to have problems.
But, in my opinion, each person does better resolving any problem as soon as possible. Otherwise, the problem within the time may grow up and get worse or simply rests unresolved during the rest of your live.
On the other hand, everytime you resolve a problem: you grow up, you get more strength and maturity. Any problem you resolve on your own, makes it easier for your to confront and to resolve new situations.
We never should hide ourselves behind anything or anyone. It's easier to resolve situations which are in our hands.

I would like to become stronger.. it is very hard to face something I don't like to do, but that is life. I agree, it's easier to face the situation before it gets out of hand. Better to face it than to complain and wait for it to take care of itself because it won't.

At the beginning it seems to be hard, but once the problem is resolved, you will feel happy because you resolved it. This situation will give you like a special freedom, so you feel stronger to overcome the next problem and the fear will leave with the time. You will believe more in yourself.

Often we think if we can avoid a problem that we can make it go away. unfortunately, the problem will still be there for us to deal with.. Avoiding them just doesn't make them disapppear from existence.

good point, we can pretend that our problem is gone but it is still on our mind, becoming worse and worse.

hi Sashakiddo, I guess it is human nature to avoid problems but we will also learn from experience that if we do not face it or address the issue at hand, it may not go away but come back to haunt you or sometimes it may be deflected and solved in an uncanny way.
By learning to deal with the problem, one gets to manage one's emotions and expectations better. One does not want sleepless nights right? or to toss and turn in bed all the time.
What really keeps us at our job - whatever it may be, I guess to keep engaged with life, an interest in achieving something in life, to earn our own living etc.

i do have some sleepless nights...to think of all the time wasted lying wide awake in bed. I could do something with those hours, do my work, think about solutions to the problems.

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problem are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. you realize that you control your own destiny.
My personel experience is whenever we have a problem we a need to own our problem and no one else can solve that only can make it more complex.
whenever we have a problem we need to think ourself how to solve it and we need to enjoy the problem then that would be a really a great experience.
Many think this is all crap and its good to say but not to impliment. But i personally have many problems and have learnt from them.
I think problem ends only when our life ends :)
All i would like to say is Life is a process of climbing a step by removing one Knot of problem :)

what if your mother forces you to do something you don't want to do. then can we say it is her fault?

We all do have problems, differently. But we cannot avoid it because it is a part of our everyday life, once we avoided it we can't move on to our life it will still bothers you. We should learn to face our problems, even how hard or tough it is, because once the problem was solved it will lessen the burden that we feel.

that is true, and the release of the burden is a great reward.

The best way to solve the problem is to face the problem. Escaping from a problem would just not help but would rather make the problem even more complicated and taxing. Problem is part and parcel of our life, it is through problems that we get stronger and tougher in facing life.

In this earthly life of ours problems always keep coming, have come in the past and will also come in the future. There is no escape from problems because it is a part of nature. Happiness, in this life is fleeting and goes away quickly because suddenly a problem arises out of the blue.Even if one tries to escape from it the problem still persists and refuses to go away. One can shut ones eyes and say that there is no sun or sunlight whereas the reality is quite different. One has to face the sun sometime or the other.Similarly running away from a problem will not solve it, it is merely postponed and many times will come back with greater force and vengeance.therefore the best thing is to face it, tackle it in the best possible way and even if one fails one can alway try some other way and it is quite possible that one may succeed. One cannot live doing nothing, one has to do something worthwhile in life and if one does it and achieves success then one gets and commands respect from our fellow humans.

Beautiful explication.. problems are natural, and avoidance is denial of nature. At least by trying to face the situation, we can say we tried.

There have been many times in my life that I wanted to shut all issues away and have to face them. To laater find that the issues tripled because I could not avoid them forever.
I have learned to always wish for the best and always prepare for the worse in any outcomes becuase if things turn out great then I will be super happy. If they do not turn out great then I would have felt in advance that it was not so therefore, the dissappointment is less felt.
We cannot avoid problems our whole life, I think because we are alive and as as long aw we are alive we can prevent direct problems but must face them once they arise.

It depends upon what you wanted to do, or what you want in life, if you want to be like that then go on, if you want to grow then you must not avoid problems, solving problems will help you feel better and become a better person, it is sweeter to know that you have face and solve the problem rather than avoiding it, for sometimes the more you avoid it the more you've got problems.

In real life, avoid problems will only add new problems, it could be by avoid problems - the problem that may come will be greater. why don't we just face it, no matter what happen next.
