Why ladies are not allowed in funeral

Today I went to attend my bhabhi's sister funeral. There one small girls ask me ohhh unty i want to ask one question I say yes then she asked me why ladies or girls not allowed in funeral. I say I cant give any answer. But I think this is a tradition or may be the ladies heart is very sensitive and she cried everytime so at the time of burning the body they cant bear it. So they not allowed but I think in various country various reason and some community it is allowed share your views in your country or community allowed this or some other reason for not allowing.

I wondered the same you know, but early this year one of my cousin did go their by mistake and no one asked her to get out. So, i guess nothings stopping you except your family. So, if you want to go you can go i guess.

This is something new to me. i have never heard of such customs. Anyway, from what country is this? Maybe there is a special reason behind this. I hope you could elaborate more so we will be enlightened too. In the Philippines, everyone can go.
