Earthquakes of the world.....

After the Japan earthquake, I started to monitor daily quakes. The quake felt in Japan was huge and has caused a lot of destruction and because of the nuclear power plants taking on so much damage, will and has cause concern for the rest of the world. Upon my observations (which I check regularly a few times every hour....obsessed lol) I've noticed a lot of swarms in and around California, Alaska, Mexico, Japan, and Indonesia. Because I'm very new to observing earthquakes, my question would have to be....are these massive amounts of small earthquakes normal or is it possible that Earth is gearing up to release something powerful and life changing for the entire world?
And, as a second question for those of you that are monitoring quakes as well, why don't the earthquakes in British Columbia (Canada coast) register on this map? They do on the map for my itouch app, but not on this site.....

I started monitoring daily earthquakes after Japan's, too, but kind of fell away from it. The way I understand it, swarms can indicate a coming earthquake but not always. In other words, they don't know. The earth is not at rest, but moves continually, so that small earthquakes happen all the time. When many happen in one area, it's an indication that something more than "normal" is going on nearby, but that doesn't always equal an earthquake or a volcano.
Did you know that the earthquake in Japan was predicted and they gave a warning 10 seconds before it hit? 10 seconds isn't very much time, but hopefully they'll be able to take that success and build on it.

I never heard about the prediction, other than a girl on youtube had predicted an earthquake for "around the 11th of March". She wasn't sure were it was supposed to hit, but she definitely got the date correct. Her prediction was based on a supposed brown dwarf that is heading in Earth's direction and upon her calculations, the Earth, Sun, and Comet Elenin were all in alignment. Unfortunately, shortly after her first correct prediction, she decided to predict a massive earthquake for California on March 31 and was horribly wrong and shamed by a lot of members, all in all, losing pretty much any credibility that she had earned with her first prediction.

I meant the earthquake was predicted by scientists who used instruments to measure the movement of the tectonic plates. The girl was guessing based on outer influences, so she could have been close, but not precise. There is also a prophecy out right now that there will be a massive earthquake in California soon - like before the end of this month. I guess we shall see.

I've really been noticing a lot of activity in California and Alaska, and now today, a few decent size ones in Nevada (which is pretty scary considering the super volcano at Long Valley Caldera). The "prophecy", or quake watch, that I saw recently warns people to keep an eye out for a big one between April 27 - 30. The person goes on to mention that he feels it will be in Indonesia, but really, if it were to happen, it could be anywhere. I feel as if something big is brewing and consider myself very fortunate that I live in central Canada where nothing happens other than some flooding, cold winters, dry summers, and tornadoes.

Check for the greatest or the latest earthquakes. I do once in a while. I should check now that you reminded me, how big was today´s earthquake here. I live in Chile, a country that has had several of the worst earthquakes ever recorded. Today I was mylotting when an eathquake started. I ran downstairs and stayed at the gardn raking leaves until I stopped trembling.

After being here in the 1960 earthqhake, I don´t think anything so terrible can happen to me in my country. The worst are tsunamis and other problems that have to do with how human beings live. The worst thing in Japan probably was the nuclear plant problem. And the problems in Haiti have to do with poverty. Haiti´s eartyhquake was a lot less than ours last year but did more harm. And in Japan the aftermath of a nuclear plant problem is worse than the loss due to Mother Nature.

From what I can tell, the one that Chili had today was a 5.1, which is a smaller one, but anything over a 5 isn't really "small". For some reason, the last 2 days have been increased in activity EQ wise. Seems like the whole ring of fire is active, I just hope nothing too serious happens. There's a guy in Taiwan that is predicting a Mag. 14 on May 11.....I guess we'll have to wait and see. That's pretty huge and highly unlikely to happen.
