My favorite professor in college had a class where we read the book Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn. It is about our industrial society which takes so much from the environment without giving anything back. He calls this the Takers. In contrast, he refers to everyone else as the Leavers because they leave everything like hunter-gatherers.
This is a pretty easy book to read, while providing a lot of information about world history. Everything is told from the perspective of a gorilla. Basically he tells the story of the agricultural revolution, and how it led to population growth, and eventually our terrible mass producing food industry.
It gives us a lot to think about, if you care about the environment or society.
Have you read it?
What are your thoughts on population growth? How about the food industry?

hi,
yes, my country is aware of that, and they really work it out to reduce population growth here, and aside from that due to large population it is the main cause of starving, poverty, and unemployment of my country.

Hi sashakiddo.
I have'nt read the book. China my country has the largest population in the whole world. Every year 20 million or so babies are born all over the country. So in my country pay great attention to the agriculture. The famer will get some moeny from the government every year if they go in for forming. So the food industry is very flourish.
My english is not very well. I hope you can get what i say. hehe.
