My mom's birthday is also in May & it's Mother's Day, so we usually get her a combined big gift but I don't know, lately my mom has everything she needs. What do you usually get your mother or what have you gotten her?
Any ideas?
Past gifts: Expensive knife set, cashmere sweaters, cashmere jackets, leather jacket, cooking gagdgets/ appliances
She's not much of a beauty person like salon/spa.

Hi there!
Advance happy birthday and mothers day to your mom. I wish I could spend time with my mom too. Well sad to say she's far away from me right now. Well I'll just give her a ring and greet happy mother day and tell how i love her. I wish she'll appreciate that and i can make her happy too.

Well, create somethin like a greeting card made by yourself, she will like this a lot, does she like electronic appliances? Dont buy anything expensive just something that she will remember forever

Hi infatuatedbby...
it indeed is tough to decide a perfect mother day's gift every year. This year i am thinking of gifting my mom a Emerald Jewellery set. She has all types of Jewellery but she recently lost her emerald earrings. She is miles away from me, so i will have to post my gift to her and i will miss her so much. It's been three consecutive years that i have not been with her on mother's day! But i cannot do much about it! I hope she loves my gift.
Maybe you could try gifting your mom some kind of jewellery or cute shoes maybe!
Good Luck!

Yeah it is very hard to pick a gift for Mother's Day especially since my mom is really picky. That is a good idea, jewerly. I forgot about jewerly, too bad my mom likes expensive jewerly, maybe I can ask my sister to chip in since I don't work, lol :) My mom loves emerald too cause that is her birth stone.
Thanks for sharing!

hi, your topic reminds me of my mom who passed away 3 years ago. I used to give her kitchen utensils at mother's day because she love to cook and spend lot of time in the kitchen, so I like to make it comfortable for her. but now I think all I can give her is pray, may GOD forgive her and I hope she's happy there :)

I don't have a mother to buy a present for but may I suggest a pretty flower bouquet that you made yourself with a nice card to go with it and of course all the love you have for her will be a great gift.I look forward to the homemade gifts my kids make me.I hope this is helpful and have a great day.

Well this year I live far away and am broke so I'm just making my mom a card and sending it with a little note.
My mom tends to just like spending time with me. One time we went for a drive to a park and walked around. We made daisy chains together. Sometimes I'll make her dinner or take her out to dinner. Another year I helped her out by doing some cleaning for her.
If you have the time I would suggest taking her to something she likes and spending time with her.

I haven't really been giving my mom anything these past few years since I am no really as affectionate person, not showy and everything.. But i do believe that the best thing you can give to her is your time and attention- it's priceless, since we are really busy these days- since it's summer..so just this one day or one week, spend time with her the entire day..

my parents don like to receive things from me, if i buy they said it too expensive don buy stuffs waste of money and such. So better keep my own money for paying bills rather that face the critism of them whether they mean it or not, or just take them out for a meal dinner or buffet and such.Card and flower are waste of money for them.If not then give some tradidional health stuffs maybe they accept it without critism.

I never thought Mother’s day is around the corner not until I read your discussion.
Time goes by so fast. It seems we just started the year and now we are almost halfway this year.
I would probably call mom to greet her on this special day since my family is currently living quite far from where she is staying. A visit would probably surprise her. Just to be able to kiss, hug, thank and say I love her would mean more to her than any material gifts that I can give her. She loves to receive flowers so I might give her one too.

Last year I bought my mom flowers and she loved them :) , but this year I don't have enough extra money to buy her flowers, so I'm going to make her a card and if we don't go out anywhere, I'll make her dinner and just make sure she can relax and enjoy the day. I might make or draw something for her, too.

well I guess you can give her a weekend getaway, where she could enjoy nature and be relaxed. Like arrange a nice hotel accommodation in where the scenery is nice and peaceful and a place where there is a lot to learn. My mom's birthday is also in May and I guess I'll get her a new fridge since hers is no longer working well. I guess it past retirement age already lol.

You don't have to buy your mother a very expensive gift for Mother's Day. The best thing will be to treat her on that whole day. You can go watch a movie of her choice with her. Then after that, treat her to a restaurant of her choice. Giving her special attention on that day, is the best you can give your mother.
Take it from a mother like me, because it's what i like to be given always on that special day - loving attention .

you can create something that is personalized.. you can give her a card that you made on your own with your wonderful message for her, cook her a beautiful dish, and just make her relax the whole day.. i know she will appreciate no matter what you give her.. :)
