What is your accent ? If you are an English learner , what‘s your accent refer to ? And how much does It really matter when you talking with people from different areas in the world ? As for me ,it does matter ,now I kind of get used to American ,when hearing some British speaking ,It really sounds weird to me .

I live in the United States, right in the middle. I speak Americanized English. You will find that we have different accents within this, such as Southern, Eastern seaboard, Pacific Northwest, Texan. The funny thing is that no matter where I am, I tend to take on an accent similar to whoever I am speaking with.

We will pretty much use the same words, but it is hard to explain the sound is still different. For instance, one of our presidents, John Fitgerald Kennedy, dealt with the Cuban Missile Crisis. When he would say "Cuba" it would sound more like "Cuber" and other words, like Harvard would be said "Hawvawd". I might say you all, but in Oklahoma and Texas you might hear Y'all. Some people talk with a more nasal sound and others will have a broad sound to their words. Some one syllable words have two syllables in the far south, such as the word "Fire" might also be heard as "fie ur" or it could be heard as "far". But a difference between American and British words would be our American car has a hood and a trunk, but in the UK that same car has a bonnet and a boot.

Well there's just a tiny difference between English accent compared to the accents within our country . I could possibly say there might be thousands of dialects in China ,and people can barely understand each other from area to area if they don't use the regular Chinese instead .

I grew up in the south ...Louisiana and even though I have been away for years, people tell me I still have a little hint of a southern drawl. I don't hear it, but others ask where I am from.
Accents do not 'matter.' I am embarrassed sometimes when I can't understand someone and have to ask them to repeat something. I don't want to make them feel bad or feel their English is not good because I always give everyone credit for trying other languages.

I'm from a Mid Atlantic state in the U.S. I was born in the north but I have lived here in Virginia most my life. I usually have a regular America Accent but I can use a Thick Southern accent. I adore the British accent. There are many English accents here in the U.s. and in Great Britain.

One of my close friends is in London. He and I misunderstand each other sometimes. We may say the same words but they have different meanings.I used to joke we need a American-British English dictionary.

I have a country accent. I am not from way down south but I still talk like them. Alot of people think I am from Alabama or places like that but I never lived there.

I am a Chinese, so I will have a Chinese accent when I am speaking in English. But since we learned British English in the high school but our foreign teachers were American, so my English could be mixed. Some words sound like British and some sound like American.
I love China

Being in constant company of those who spoke English with a good accent I too have a good accent and I am also fluent. A good accent is like music with no false notes!

I have an American accent, specifically a Midland accent. I just took a quiz. http://www.gotoquiz.com/what_american_accent_do_you_have. I'm from the Mid Atlantic but I don't sound like a lot of people I know from the nearest major city but it's simlar. I think accents are interesting because I don't know why people in different parts of the country have different acctents. Where does it come from is it in the water?

i used to work as a call center agent before and after our shift we were given our evaluation paper. one observation from my supervisors that stood out was that i have a very strong regional accent. i come from the Visayan speaking region of my country and every time i speak English my heavy accent cant be ignored at all but i do understand the American and the British accent though. my problem when i speak to an American is that i can't be understood because of my very prominent Visayan regional accent.
