The 62-year-old Zimbabwean, a coached England with mixed results from 1999 to 2007, will take over the job for a two-year period.
Will Duncan Fletcher be good replacement for Gary Kirsten?

India doesn't need a coach. Rather poor coaches like Greg Chappel(although being great player) has destroyed confidence of players immensely. I think Dhoni is sufficient to inspire youngsters of Team India.

This one is going to be a very rough one. English team did not perform extraordinary under his coaching. His methodologies are way too different than Gary Kirsten. It is going to be a very difficult task for Team India to cope up with this tough lad. We may see the history repeating itself as in the coaching of earlier foriegn coaches.
BCCI is testing again but at the cost of good form of Indian team.

Would be interesting to see how Duncan Fletcher leads the team from here... When Garry Kristen took over team India, they weren't the world beaters like today and, Garry did a wonderful job. Now that India is world champions in all form of the cricket, the new coach Fletcher doesn't have to change much but offer advise to youngsters and understand the players individually... Let's see how he does in another 1 or so year...

I dont understand why BCCI keeps Indian veterans at an arms length when coaching men in blue is in contention,I feel Robin Singh, could be a good choice and even if you wanna have foreign coach it could be Jonti Rhodes,Shane Warne or anybody with a vibrant figure

Looking at his coaching career he is the first person to coach India with a lot of coaching experience. But need to wait and watch how he bonds with team India.

The 62 year old is a good replacement for Gary Kirsten. He's obviously got a pretty good track record on the international and county circuits and he's got a pretty wide range of coaching experience. He shares some similarities to Gary Kirsten and that obviously is something India would like to maintain, but he also has had greater experience which should be useful for the phase the Indian team are about to enter into.
