Round Ligament Pain

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I am on my second trimester. Lately, I became so anxious because I experienced a brief, sharp, stabbing pain on my abdomen and groin area. I noticed that I can feel more pain upon walking, stretching and getting up on bed.Based on my observation, the pain can last for a few seconds. I was about to consult my doctor but I came across an article that talks about Round Ligament Pain during pregnancy. As I was reading the article, I realized that what I am going through is common on second trimester and it is a normal pregnancy symptom to expect. There is no need to worry because the pain that we can feel is due to the stretching of round ligaments that supports our uterus. You need to be aware that if the abdominal pain or discomfort worsens and it is paired with severe cramping and bleeding then you need to consult your doctor. I just want to share my experience with pregnant women and soon to be mothers out there. I hope this will help lessen our worries about the pregnancy symptoms that we are going through.

I had this with all of my pregnancies (5 in total) and for me what worked best was doing a pregnancy yoga. It helps to gently stretch the tendons, ligaments and muscles that can all be sore from pregnancy. My back felt better as well as my hips and shoulders and (I didn't know about this with the first baby) all of my deliveries when I had been doing the yoga went much easier and less painful. I think this is the one I used http://www.gaiam.com/product/prenatal+yoga+dvd.do. Mine has a different cover but the teacher is the same one as is the company. Also if you already have a kid the ABC kids yoga is a favorite in our house!

This is my first pregnancy and I don't have any idea that this is a normal occurrence among pregnant women.Good thing! I know what this pain is all about. I haven't tried yoga before but this time I want to try something new. Thanks for sharing me this website. I will let you know once I've tried it.

If it happened that I stumbled upon this post when I felt the same pain, I shouldn't have rushed to my doctor. The doctor told me about what you have said like the stretching thing. :-)
