All About Trailers

Hello! I'm a person who loves watching Trailers to get me hyped up about a movie. But then, sometimes Trailers spoil the movie. Like, in our locally produced movie, they show almost every highlight of the movie. I think, cool, it's such a funny movie, I'll watch it, only to find out those were the only funny moments in the movie! And In The Last Airbender, they made such great trailers, but the movie was awfully depressing. To you, were there trailers that got you hyped up, but when you watched the movie, it wasn't so good. Or were there trailers who showed almost everything in the movie that it annoyed you? Tell me what you think of Trailers. Good day! :)

hi! I've watched that movie! It was also disappointing! The story was fast-paced and not very well produced. Like in Percy Jackson, and also The Last Airbender! I agree about the local trailers. Hollywood trailers focus more on fooling the audience into believing it will be a great movie. LOL. How wrong they are.....

I didn't know James Cameron edited his own trailers! I only watched the AVATAR trailer and it really got me excited! And watching it, it really was worth it! The only thing lacking was that I didn't get to watch it in 3D! haha.. Additionally, AVATAR had some elements from Princess Mononoke. It was an animated movie by Hayao Miyazaki back in 1997 which was really popular in Japan that year. It was really good. When I watched Avatar, it reminded me of Princess Mononoke. :D

Well, trailers do give me the excitement to watch the movie in full length. So far, i have watched trailers, movies of which i have also watched full length and i am satisfied. like for example, the trailer of the soap i am watching would really excite me to watch it the next day and it proves to be that what i thought of its outcome is not as what it will actually show, and i feel happy of the twist it gives. At least, the plot of the story is something not predictable.

hello! i also get excited with trailers for soaps! at least they let the audience anticipate the coming episode, and at least they're cliffhangers, so we really should watch the new episode! :D

That's correct. I even wish that they should be aired not only on week nights but until Saturday and Sunday night too.

yeah that would be great! :D But I think they also need to expose some of their new talent as well, with their weekend shows. :)

We have a service in the US that allows you to rent Blu-Ray and DVD dics... on Blu-Ray discs, there is so much room that there are what they call extended trailers... some of these can go on for ten minutes. When my wife and I finally sit down to watch a movie, we both have thought we'd already saw it. In a drama, the best parts are already shown. In a comedy, the funny parts are already shown. In a thriller, you know when the scary part is coming because they will show what leads up to it and then cut off right before the scary part. I try to skip trailers when I can, but I also use them to determine which movies I am going to watch or not. So it is hard to say I love them and hard to say I hate them. Thanks. Zelo

Woah. Ten minute trailers? I'm pretty sure seeing all the best parts of the movie before you watch the full-length is a bummer. I know I would hate it! haha But..you love it, you hate it. Some movies are a must see, with or without spoiler trailers. Some movies suck despite an awesome trailer. It's still pretty hard to determine which is which, so word of mouth is also good. :)

It is so annoying when a trailer basically misrepresents a movie either making it out to be something which it isn’t or is basically all the best bits. I remember watching the trailer for “You, Me and Dupree” and thinking it looked like a really good comedy but the movie was actually not that funny with the trailer having cherry picked all the funniest moments. And then there was the trailer for “Marley & Me” which made it look like it was a romantic comedy where in truth the movie was about the emotional connection between a man and his dog. Still a brilliant movie but so many people went to see it thinking it would be a romantic comedy and were disappointed. Despite this I still watch trailers and have watched some really good movies off of the back of a trailer which otherwise I probably wouldn’t have ever seen, such movies as “Shadows in the Sun” and “Under the Tuscan Sun” spring to mind. It’s just a case that you can’t go on what a trailer shows you as being accurate and you have to read reviews to get a real idea of what a movie will about.

hello! those are some examples which I am talking about! some comedy trailers make it seem funnier than it really is, but i guess that's what it is for! to attract the audience. but it seems unfair afterward, because expectation didn't meet reality! Watching Percy Jackson trailer, it seemed really good, but when I watched it, it disappointed me. Now, I watch Trailers, then if it interests me, I read the reviews to know how it is generally received. In cases like Harry Potter movies and such, I tend to be biased because I would watch that movie, no matter what! lol

I love trailers but I hate their spoilers. Most of the times when you watch a trailer, the maker of the trailer has to make sure to get the attention of many. Therefore, he/she has to take scenes which are the highlights of the movie. If you already watched the trailer of Harry Potter: The Deathly Hollows part 2, you could see the obvious highlights of the movies. This is why many people are waiting for it to be released in theaters because they are curios of what is going to be next. That is the power of trailers.

hi! I watched the Trailer of HP7 Part 2, and of course, they were SOME highlights, but not everything. I am biased towards it, because I will watch it no matter what, but the thing most anticipated by many fans, I think, is the Ron/Hermione kiss, which thankfully they didn't show. :)

yeah, that's what I do too! Watching trailers really isn't enough. We need to read the critiques for the movie to get a good feel of the movie. Nice! :)
