Constantly changing your major? Have you picked a career?

Lately I haven't been able to decide what I want to do as a career. AT first I thought that maybe psychology is my passion. Then at some weird point it became alw enforcement and then a weird twis down to culinary arts and then a hop, skip, jump to something with computers
I just can't seem to make up my mind. Now keep in mind that I have only been in college 1 year. Its normal to have not made up my mind now right? I just enjoy so many things I can't possibly decide what I want to do.
Are any of you in the same predicament? If not, then how quickly did you decide and why?

I'm so sorry. As of now I'm only doing general education, the basics before I take any other classes. I'd hate to have chosen a major then realized it just wasn't for me :(

Hi! After three semesters of being in the wrong course, I finally shifted out! But the thing is even when I was filling out the application form for transferring to another degree program, I was still thinking of what particular course to take this time. I love acting and writing, but I didn't choose BA Theater Arts or BA Creative Writing in my university because I don't wanna get stuck or confined in just one field of interest. I wanna try a lot of things and so I ended up choosing BA Art Studies which is a collaboration of everything related to art, including theater and writing. I hope I make it right this time. If I find myself unhappy again, I can always shift out. I think it's perfectly normal as we sometimes are still on that phase of getting to know what we really want and who we really are. I hope you finally find yours. Good luck!

I have the same problem as you. I'm glad I'm not alone on this. I enjoy a variety of things in my case, like I said above; computer technology, psychology, culinary arts, and others. Its hard to choose what I enjoy most. I have decided that I will go back to researching the different careers each subject has and make a list of careers I am mostly interested in and organize them from most fun to least fun and also from highest salary to lowest salary.

Only 3 months are left for my course and i know i chose a wrong major :|
I don't wanna do this :| but yah, i haven't given up yet or atleast i shouldn't act like that unless i wanna get some spanking from parents. :p Anyways i'm in a big mess, but I'll think of something. Its good to see that you are seriously thinking about it right now. Hope you make the right decision.

It's normal. When I was in highschool and college, I kept a journal which I updated everyday. I wrote things that made me happy, things I enjoyed doing and would like to do. Everyday was a variety, but by reading those previous entries, you would realize what the things are that make you truly happy.

When I took my entrance exam for the university of the Philippines, my first choice was Biochemistry. I wanted to become involved in forensics so I wanted to take that course. However, I wasn't able to pass the course and instead, I ended up taking my second choice, which was BIology. I liked the subject back when I was in high school but I didn't like the course that much because of the possible professions that I could have. Back then, I didn't like to be a doctor. Eventually though, it became my dream so this JUne, I'll be starting with my medical education. I still have some side dreams though. For example, I still would like to be an interior designer or a photographer! :) You'll figure it out along the way. :)

Ah I see. Thats exactly how I started. I took many interesting classes in high school and that is where a lot of my interests came. I think i will look up the major I'm interested in, then look at the possible careers and kind of rule out which ones I am not too interested. THank you very much.
