It's my officemate's birthday yesterday and we had a pizza party earlier, ofcourse his treat. I love it when someone is celebrating their birthday at the office, you get a free meal for the day and you also get to bond with each other.
How about you guys, do you also celebrate your birthday at the office and if yes, what food do you often bring?

I was inspired to start a discussion yesterday by a cake that we bought for an office mate who shared the same with us. And I was thinking of starting a discussion about having birthdays at the office but you beat me to it. So I'll just respond to your discussion.
In my current work place, our lunch group in my team had a tradition to give birthday cakes to our office mates within the group. And birthday celebrants always gives a treat and share their birthday cakes! From pizzas to eat-all-you-can breakfast buffets we are just so bummed afterwards. It really would be nice if you happen to share your birthday month with someone in the group. You have someone to share the bill. Unfortunately, I am the only one in my group that is born in November, so I'll surely prepare my pockets by that time.

I remember this one friend when I was working at the office always wanted to try Puerto Rican food. So of course several of us being Puerto Ricans, brought in a feast.
We had Spanish Rice, Slow Roasted Pork, salads and Flan, which is a Spanish custard. We were so full we could hardly work the rest of the day.

We do cake or cupcakes. We never had them treat us. We always took donations and bought the cake out of that. I don't recall ever buying my own for a celebration at work. It is our day to celebrate not buy! That is sad to hear that it had to be his treat and that you folks didn't pitch in to help him celebrate his day!

Wow that is so cool. It's his birthday and he buys all the stuffs! here it's the other way round. The birthday person usually doesn't pay anything and we, the friends, split up the bills amongst us.
When it's someone's birthday, we usually pick a restaurant and go eat and then for the next stop go to some karaoke bar and yeah the stops go on and on lol

I love birthday party, it's very exciting. Even if it is not your birthday, the feeling is there that you are also excited sometimes you are more excited than the celebrant. During my birthday, my husband and I just spend time together by watching fireworks since everyone is also celebrating during my birthday. How lucky I am because it's New years Day :)

Sometimes i do sometimes i don't. It really depends on my budget, because my priority to give a blow-out with is my family.
I had the biggest surprise though when i had my birthday months ago. When i go back to my table coming from an errand by my boss, i saw my table filled with a bouquet of roses, packs of pancit , liters of softdrinks and a cake.
As i approached my table, my boss greeted me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. We had a grand time eating the foods except for the cake, which i brought home with me as addition to my blow-out at home.
My boss is really so kind and thoughtful as she has been since i became her executive assistant.
