Is reading comics a bad thing?

Well, it depends on what type of comics you read. There are a lot of comics which contain sensitive material and not safe for kids. Or maybe your mom thinks you won't learn anything from reading them. Try to show her you also read some educational stuff aside from comics. Or you could just hide from her whenever you read comics.

Actually it's not bad to read comics, because it's part of growing up. You also learn lessons from them anyway. I remember, when i was a kid, my siblings and i used to read comics, but our father warned us that he will rip all of them when he sees us reading them. Despite the warning we read them in the confines of our shared bedroom. Hence, one time he caught us and all the comics were torn. My mother has to pay them all in full because she rents them for us! She too was an avid reader of them that's why. But i guess, today comics is not that patronized anymore. It's more of the internet.

Reading comics is better than reading nothing at all. It is better than playing computer games or watching tv all day.

Not really mate! As long as you're reading it for your past time only. During study time, you have to read your books and other reading materials related to your studies. Nevertheless, reading comics can not be as bad as it seems. It gives you entertainment and it invigorates the senses and imaginative faculties we have in our cognitive domain. It's not a bad thing. It's just for entertainment after all. You're mom probably just wanted you to read books or something, since they (insert a lot of good benefits here.) It's not that comics are no good; your mom probably thought books were better. At least that's what I think.

in no way is it wrong, weird, strange, cooky, it is a good pastime and a great way to let the child/tenn in you live on and not every comic book for childen, today most comics is not really mean to be read by childen

Dear friend, When I was child I was a comic addiction, there was around 600 comic books especially Phatom, Superman, Bat man, Tintin, Mandrake, Spiderman, so on goes its. I love reading it and enjoy it. I feel it help a lot in our reading habit. But for me I love to read only some kind of books. I do not feel any bad about reading comics. I love it but only thing I do not get time for reading it.

No, I dont think read a comic is worse, but it feel different when you read a certain book or megazine that bring you information and education. That's the point!
