Do you read business books or success books?

I have been reading books from the business section of the book store. One that I like is 27 Powers of Persuasion, which teaches you how to communicate to get what you want. But it is not just a business book in my opinion, it is also a good discussion on how to deal with all types of people, even the people who are rude and arrogant. Another book is Made to Stick, a book to teach you how to get others to listen to your ideas, to buy your product, etc. It is filled with examples about how successful companies have achieved so much. There are also examples that are not about business, like the story of how an animal rights group convinced people to help save the sharks, even in the days after the surfer Bethany Hamilton had her arm torn off by one. Have you read any good books about being successful?

Every day. I will have to look into the ones you mentioned, for persuasion I have read, How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, as well as 3 Steps to Yes, the gentle art of persuasion, I forget the author and it is on the night stand by the bed, gots people sleeping up there. I have also read, Think and Grow Rich(Napoleon Hill), The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking(Dale Carnegie), Acre of Diamonds(Russel Conwell), The Ultimate Gift(James Stovall?) My Philosophy of Success(Jim Rohn), Success in 10 Steps(Michael Dlouhy, that is an ebook I give away) and many more, I try to read at least 10 pages a day, I usually read more though. I love all kinds of reading. Success Books are amongst my favourites, those Personal Development, Communication, interacting with others and high fantasy. Eldest By Christopher Paolini, is a good example of all those things in one book. Sincerely and With Appreciation. The most successful people in the world have Libraries, everyone else just has a big screen TV, heard that as a quote once, made me giggle.

It takes me about 3 hours of packing, and I do all my own moving so it is just the cost of fuel and the truck. All in all I would say about 150$ just for the books. Most of the time it is worth it, and much of the time I will sell the books I have read and have no intention of reading again. One day could be to far away, I would suggest you make today, that one day. But, that is just a suggestion. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

I've heard good things about How to Win Friends and Influence People, I need to pick that up one day. I always wonder how much people spend transporting their libraries when they move somewhere. All my professors have all those books filling every wall of their office. I always sell my books, but at least I read them.

I have read the 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader by John C. Maxwell. John Maxwell is a very good writer about success and leadership. Though I'm not a leader in my community, it's a very good book to learn about ways to relate to people, as well as handling them in different situations. I think that even if you're not a leader, you should still read these books. :)

Indeed, And I think John Maxwell is the best author for that! And also, Zig Ziglar. Not only are they informative and easy to understand, but also very inspirational.

Hi Sashakiddo, I like to borrow books from the business section in the local library too. I read widely, even those books about personal finance and corporate finance. Those are the books that help us see money in different ways. Some books about real estate are written from different viewpoints. I have read some written from the perspective of the landlord, about the horror stories of those tenants. I have also read books from the standpoint of the developer, eg books by Donald Trump. Most real estate books are written by real estate agents, dealing with the taxation and other issues. It is a good learning curve.

I try to read any kind of success book I can at least every couple of months. I think it helps keeps you motivated & definitely helps you become successful yourself. I have read Robert Kyiosaki and Donald Trump. and there are so many other good ones out there to try. I also think that it keeps your mind from going stagnant...you gotta keep growing & learning!

I have been reading a lot of self-help books pertaining to financial planning, which is my line of work. I like to read these books, they give me a lot of perspectives and help me form my own opinion about what is best for my clients. Thank for suggesting the books; I will look them up at the library soon.

Those books sound great. I will have to look into them and see if I can get them from my library. I have read loads of these types of books. We have a bookshelf full of them. They are always great to come back to time and time again. Some are autobiographical such as Richard Branson's "Losing My Virginity' and 'Race You To the Top' by Tony Christiansen. Other favourites of mine that are more instructional or inspirational are 'The Lamp' by Jim Stoval, 'The Science Of Getting Rich' by Wallace Wattles, 'The Present' by Spencer Johnson and 'The Lost Choice' by Andy Andrews. There are so many other great ones too, that I could go on forever!

I love reading these kind of books, I guess it's not business books but empowerment books, helps you become empowered. Who are the authors? if you do not mind sharing. I love reading Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen, I know it's a Christian themed book but it is very factual and true. I also subscribe to a monthly biz magazine called Entrepreneur where you find different business ideas and success stories of how small time people turned something big time and end up rich.

I love reading Entrepreneur as well, it's filled with interesting ideas to make people think. I'll check out Osteen next time I go to the bookstore. Making it Stick is by Chip and Dan Heath, and 27 powers of persuation is by Chris St. Hilaire.
