Yesterday my country celebrated Freedom day. Its to celebrate our democratic freedom! AWESOME! But it did get me thinking. Just how free are we? My one friend said to me freedom is a state of mind, and I couldnt agree more with him! It seems like absolute freedom only exists in our minds. Free to think about what we want. If you can astral project, you can be anywhere at anytime! It makes me wonder why more people dont try get more "in-tune" with themselves.
So just how free are we? Well I know if I want to drive somewhere its going to cost me something. Petrol is totally over priced and even public transport has its limits. If I want to go visit another country I have to a) Have anough money and b) Get a VISA or some kind of permission. I have to work to earn money...What when work is quiet? I have to enter the rat race to earn a little money so I can enjoy my "free time", which for many of us is 1 MAYBE 2 days out of 7. And Im sure there are many people who work 7 day weeks. Where is the freedom in that? This world is far too fast paced for my liking. Sometimes it really feels we have forgotten wher our true values should lie. So are we free? Is democracy really free? Its a great philosophy and when its executed correctly it will no doubt help a community...but in order for that to happen does the community have to be liked minded? Interesting thought. If everyone has an opinion and no doubt many will have conflicting ideas and interests, is there a way we can all be happy? Even though we have different tastes, ideas and interests? Can we be free amoungst each other even though there are certain laws that were voted by my fellow community with different opinions to me?
Is our existance so well balanced that there are no winners, or losers. Every action has a reaction, does that keep everything balanced so that there are no forces that have the upper hand? Of course these are all just ramblings out of my head. What is freedom to you and do you HONESTLY bellieve you are free?
