The movies being released currently are not watchable because those are filled with more violence, stupid story, vulgarity etc., when compaed to the old movies. The old movies are can be watchabel because those films have good family drama, good scenes, good music, without vulgar scenes. We are still watching the old movies with utmost interest in DVDs like that. Why the directors are not making that kind of movies now?

Personally I too prefer older movies because for all those reasons you mention but also because they always had a story to tell where as today’s movies seem more to be about set pieces, special effects and star names. The simple reason why they don’t make them anymore is that the majority of cinema goers don’t want to watch movies that haven’t got a lot of violence, crude humour or special effects. And to be honest it’s not really the director’s fault because if you look outside of mainstream cinema there are some great modern independent movies which are made with the characteristics of older ones. But because movie making is a business it is the studios that control what is made when it comes to mainstream and they only want to make movies which will turn a profit which means the movies that have very little depth and a lot of action and effects. What is actually really annoying is that many younger audiences won’t even give older movies a go because they immediately think old equates to boring. An example of this was a debate on another site about which was better “The Dark Knight” or “The Godfather” and those who said “The Dark Knight” was better stated that “The Godfather” was boring an old yet some admitted to never even seeing it and immediately thought old was boring. I suppose the good thing for us old movie fans is that we have decades of movies to watch and frequently get shown free on TV so we don’t have to fork out for expensive cinema tickets.

i definitely agree with you. sometimes i do watch those classic and old movies on cable. what i do like about them is the stories, not only are they original but it does have some sense and somehow you could relate to it. unlike those new movies, some have great graphics, even done through CGI but if you really look into it. the story is shallow.

So you noticed that too? Yes, movies of today are filled with violence and sometimes they just prolong those violence so you can call it suspense. Old movies, have suspense, mystery and most of all moral lessons. They are really worth watching!
