lets face it, western people who are americans, europians and australians are still being treated as superior everywhere. even me, as asian, i experience it in my own country or other countries where they treat white people differently from black or asian people. im not writing this to show my anger..but i want to have an openess to this topic..actually i want to hear more from the people who are racist or who are really mean to other ethnic. I want to know what is running to their mind.. but even if your not racist, please if you have opinion..let me read it. lets have a very honest and nice discussion regarding racism.

I don't know in what country do you live, but where I live caucasians aren't treated as good as asians. There's a lot of discrimination based on race and on nationality too -specialy on nationality, as asians from other countries have to face discrimination too-. I'm not a racist person, so I'm afraid I can't give my opinion from a racist point of view, but I just wanted to specify that being white doesn't mean being priviledged in all the world.

Unfortunately, Racism is all over the world, and it sucks. The majority of Europeans see the people of the United States as obese pigs, When people think of the British they Think of dirty ugly teeth and so on and so on. There is especially A LOT of Racism when it comes to the Jewish People. For EVER. Nationality there's some kind of ignorant racism remarks. I hate racism, But Racism is not going any place. Listen, I do not care of the color of your skin or your nationality the only thing important to me is how a person treats me vise versa. Thats how it should be end of story!

You are right on here. Fingers get pointed at any other culture. Not just color. On here, I do not know what color anyone is. Even if they have an avatar of a person of color, it is not necessarily their own picture. I do not see the color of skin, but the color of words. If words are colored with peace, understanding, curiosity and wonder, that is terrific. If words are colored with a dingy hatred, bile green, red with rage, that is sad.

I am black.. well kinda.. and i am not racist nor am i treated differently.. not by decent peoples at least and im not really bothered about what those haters has to say, cause their opinions matters little to me. You don't judge peoples by skin color, that's just downright stupid and whoever does that is deserves to get their brain examined. seriously.

hi dhellick08 well I am an American and here on mylot I have friends from all over the world. I am not racist at all.I do not think I am being treated as superior to anyone in fact a lot of people look at my white hair, hear my age and treat me like I might just be senile. I hate this as I am as intelligent as most and more than some. I am not senile whatsoever. I walk with a limp as I am recovering from a bad fall. I am mean to no race whatsoever and will never be. I do not want to be treated special in any way but respected as an intelligent human being who just happens to be a s enior citizen. What is running in my mind is you lumping all Americans as being treated as superior. It is simply nogt true. some of course but not all.I used to work with one negro nurse who was so edgy it was hard to know what to talk about as she had two chips on each shoulder. I also worked with another nurses aide who was Negro and we became very close. the color of anyone 's skin does not matter at all to me. I like people for who they are inside and have friends from all over the world.

I am not racist and growing up, I've always been taught to love people no matter what their color or race is. Growing up I had friends of all races and colors and all different personalities. Now with that said, I agree with you when you say white people still today get treated better. I too am not a racist once again, just want to note that and I am not angry or anything like that. I am Black, where I live it is majority white and mexican and it is sometimes hard to go out and find a job. Because when they see my name they may think that I am white but when I show up to the interview the interviewer is surprised to see that I am no white, but continues on with the interview and then I never get hired for the job and later on I find out that the job went to a white person or Mexican. But you know what how I get treated or how other people get treated because of their race. I wouldn't let it get to you. That means you have to try a little harder and ignore those who like to be racist. Those people who are racist are just ignorant and I continue to hold my head high and move on and because of that attitude, I got a job and they overlooked my race.

Personally this is something I have never been able to understand either. It is becoming even worse in areas where people are starting to think that because they are of one color, they are better than someone of another color, so why should they ever watch their TV shows, listen to that type of singers music, etc. It makes me wonder where did people go wrong, and what have we learned over the yrs?

I am a white person and I live in Europe. I like black people and am not at all racist. I have traveled to more than fifty different countries and I always respect the local people. In Kenya I met the Masai Mara tribe and found that very interesting. I traveled to South Africa the year before last and I wouldn't have gone there when it was apartheid. I have been to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong. All races are of people equal I believe and countries tend to vary. Some countries are wealthy and some countries have widespread poverty.

Neuroscientists have shown that the human brain is 'wired' to see things in 'groups'. That is why we have the 'stereotypical' mind set we do. Intelligent people realize this and overcome it with maturity. I've witnessed within the black community in America the light skinned individuals are often made fun by the darker individuals and visa versa, the darker ones are made fun of by the lighter individuals. I've witnessed Koreans and Japanese who do not care for Chinese or Philippino. I've even discussed this with individuals who feel that way. They admit to a certain distrust of 'different'. Racism is not just distrust or a unconcious treating of an individual as different. Racism is the systematic and institutionally legal oppression of one race, ethnic group over another. It is hanging people from trees cause they looked at you wrong, rounding them up and gasing them & shooting them or making them inferior according to law. Apartheid in South Africa is one example. There, the law backed up prejudices. That is racism. Anything else is just a human response to differences and can be overcome with maturity and gaining understanding of one another.

Yes you are correct....in my own country, they have a very high regard to white people....here in the gulf, you get the best compensation package if you are white even there are browns who are more competent for the job. With my previous employer, an international brand 5 star hotel, gives much much more compensation package to the white receptionists than the brown managers. I was told by my colleagues with my current employer when the asian secretary took maternity leave, a white lady relieved her post...she was given much much more salary and much much better privileges in the hotel for working 2 months than the asian lady who's performing the task for 2 years. So as the saying goes....ces't la vie....this is life...because there are browns and black who look up to them and this would never end.

elo hexebella. i like the idea of your last statement.. as long as there is brown and black looking up to white, racism will never end. yes, thats one thing, no intention to offend, but thats true. even the asians have more competency compare to white people interms of some jobs or post, still white people receives more.

I'm asian too, Chinese in fact, ans I live in the U.S. in a white town. There isn't much diversity where I'm living and I have found that whites feel like they are more superior at times. I wanted to fit in with everyone and to do that, I just had to kind of make fun of myself. I would point out stereotypes about asians and applied them to myself even if it wasn't true. Eventually I was able to be accepted for who I am and I found that sometimes racist comments can be funny when they are used jokingly. I think I have fallen into the habit of making fun of myself so much that I make fun of myself more than anyone else does, but my friends and I find it funny anyway.

I don't consider myself racist,I think I am open to communication with almost everyone regardless of skin colour or religious beliefs or any other points of view and I have a bad opinion on people who consider themselves superior just for being whiter than others,I think their conceptions are completely wrong;we mustn't forget that the first people appeared in Africa, and then they spread in every other continent.I must admit however there is a certain race I don't like because the image of Romania is poor in the western world mostly because of that race, because when they go out they beg, steal and do other bad things;I won't mention the name of this race,I'm just sad that because of many of them Romania has a poor image in Europe.

Racism is present in the entire world that is why these people who once upon a time sailed the seas to gain territories and alienate people in their own land, I do believed as time passes by things will change and it will. Those racist today are just discontented with their own level of maturity as a person and as a human being, People who discriminate other people insecure.

In my own point of view, our Creator made everything on a certain differences at its purpose. My sister encountered such thing many times in other country. My eldest sister is living in UK and just finished his nursing degree. She had this experience while she was studying. She said she was the smallest but witty in their class but her classmates always under estimate her capacity. She told us that she just ignore those things and fight by studying very well. She was able to passed all the exams and graduated with flying colors and became one of the ten lucky student who had a placement in Europe.
