Not If , but Why?Why are you watching the Royal Wedding?

I'm watching my sports morning show and one of the hosts said he didn't care about the Royal Wedding and then he asked this question, Why Should I watch this wedding? For me there wasn't a question of why! I knew I was going to watch the Wedding , period. Why? Three Reasons. The first, it is history being made Right in front of you! I am into English history and this is part of it! Second, I have watched Wills grow up in front of me. I remember him as a new born as Diana walked out of the hospital! And Three, I may not believe in marriage but I love Weddings! I can't wait to see the dress. Those are my reasons. What are your reasons to or Not to watch?

I wanted to see the sister! I heard so much about the sister that I wanted to see for myself what she looked like. I wasn't disappointed. I heard some sportscasters on the radio say that however dramatic sports is, it is still trumped by world events. And I think I agree, this wedding was a world event. Something I would remember where I was when the wedding took place. Which was asleep, just saw the highlights on replay, and for selfish reasons of wanting to see the sister!

I would love to read everyone's comment on the wedding. I am not so keen on anything else. I was reading articles on msn related to this topic. I read that Prince Will was the most eligible groom in the world and he is being taken. I don't think so, rich people are always smug, too proud of themselves, so I would never marry someone who is this rich already. But someone who has worked hard and reached the high profile status on his own efforts will win my heart sounds good? heh!!

Well, I am not one of those who had made a big deal out of this, but I get to watch some reports of it on television out of curiousity. It is good to know how other people's weddings, especially of royalty, are conducted. It is impossible for many people to have this kind of fairy tale wedding, but at least we can watch it and there is nothing wrong with that, is there?

There is nothing wrong with that at all. For some to have the huge wedding is a dream come true. To see a Royal Wedding Should be fun.

I believe the royal family to be an outdated anachronisitic cliche that the British can ill afford. Many thousands of the Queen's subjects are living below the poverty line, and yet here they are, (the royals), spending several million pounds of tax payers money on "OUR" wedding, "let them eat cake!". It's time they did the decent thing, and left.

I watched the royal wedding because weddings interest me in general, and I line seeing how people make weddings personal.

With this wedding the personal touches were subtle. Having the trees in the Abby and the flowers Catherine carried are were personal touches.

If you want to watch, then watch! I dont' get all the hoopla over watching or not watching! It is just a wedding...granted it it has some tradition and historical value to it...if that is what you are into, but good grief...I've never heard such hoopla about NOT WATCHING. I can't sit still long enough to watch it all and no, I don't really "care" about a Royal wedding but I am also not British. I bet if a daughter of a USA president was getting married, there'd be as much hoopla....but in a good way, not everyone putting it down like they are this one. I didn't watch Chelsea's wedding, just looked at her dress and cake and turned the channel. I want to see her dress, the cake and even the flowers. But still....let them get married and have their day. Just cause it isn't how you'd do it, doesn't give way to putting it down like so many and the media are. But it i a distraction that the media needs and the political people want so that they can do things without us people knowing about..while we are distracted by the wedding. I am sure Britian did not ask USA media to cover it and wouldn't care if we didn't. They didn't invite Obama, or (to my knowledge) anyone else from USA so...what's the big deal. Watch it if you want to. Don't watch it if you don't care about it, but carrying on about 2 people getting married...I say...go get a life! Plus..compared to other things that are currently on TV...I'd have to say a Royal wedding is much better than most of what is on these days.

First I didn't even know Chelsea's wedding was on t.v.! Second If not Obama , then Biden Will be at the wedding , it is protocol. And You are wrong if you think there wouldn't be flack if a daughter of a president was getting married and it was going to be a Huge , televised event.Remember only a fourth of the country approve Any President out right! Only half of us vote and half of that is pi$$ed about the outcome. there would be headlines daily listing how much Everything cost. And I sorry if anyone is giving you flack because you won't watch this event. I am not one of those who says You Must See it! I just wanted to ask the question. You have to remember that some of us Are Of English descent And that us Yanks mostly, Love to see about the Royals. So That is why every network worth it's salt will be covering this wedding. But just like on Super Bowl Sunday,if you have cable or a DVD player or a PC , you Still have things to watch.

I just wanted you to know I Think it is ok that you won't see the wedding. I think Not to invite Any American Political head is a Huge Oversight! The Queen is The figure Head of State Her first grandson's wedding is not only just a wedding but an English event. All of her allies Must attend. I hear Syria has been uninvited because of their trouble. So if you think this is Just a wedding you are strongly mistaken. If you think Wills Isn't thinking about Diana , you are mistaken. Why else would he give Kate his mother's ring? The press was going to compare Kate to Diana . That's what they do! What little I have heard about Kate,She is strong enough to handle it. Unlike Diana , Kate is a full grown woman , not a young naive 19 year old!Wills and she have been living together for years so she Knows about The " press". You have No Movie Channels?! How do you live , lol. I'm kidding! I live for everything you hate,Movies, Sports and the Royals. Wow I'm your polar opposite.

I am not watching it as I don't care to sit there that long. I wouldn't watch it if it was an American wedding! I don't have a problem with weddings, just don't want to sit there that long and watch it. I also think...althou yes it is a royal/country thing, the couple should be able to have soemthing of "Themselves" in it. I might watch...just to see how many of the attendies are the kids friends and not just royals from other countries! And of course wills is thinking of his mother. I never said he wasn't or insinuated that. I said that I think it is horrible that the media is comparing Kate to Diana at every move and turn. It has gotten so bad from what little I watch that they seem to be trying to "reincarnate" Kate into Diana! I mean, give the kids a break and let some of this wedding be about them and for them and of them. Next thing you know...there will be polls as to which was better...Kate's dress or Diana's. How Kate didn't look as well as DIana in this instance. Kate will have a hard enough time dealing with all she will have to deal with...but to have the media try to recreate Diana out of her is horrible. From what little I have been surfing through this last week...I know nothing about Kate, but lot of stuff about Diana. It is almost a "kate and diana day" not Kate and WIlliams wedding day. And I will watch a little of it, as I like looking at places I know I will never be able to see...see the landscape, the scenery, the places and all.

I'd like to see the dress, but I can see it later. I can see the wedding in reruns. I have no personal connection to it, and I don't particularly care to wake up early for it.

This is a happy reason , the last time I lost sleep over the Royals , it was to say goodbye to Diana. The first time was in 1986. I Had to see Sarah marry Andrew. I stayed up for 26 hours that day/night!

I would love to watch the wedding of Willaim and Kate. If it was not so darn early for me to get up to watch I would! I will have to get up like at 3 am tomorrow to watch it! Not going to happen! It will not be happening! Even if I did get up that early I would not be able to stay awake! Ain't going to happen!

i have been engulfed with the royal family all my life. i cannot send a letter without licking the back of the queens head!! since i started work at the age of 16 i have been paying for all their ,via my taxes, exquesite lifestyle. I watched charlie and lady Diana get married. I liked Di because for once, one of the royal family worked for their money and cared for the poor and sick. BTW. i will not work because the royal family are a drain on the UK. Kate is no Di. the monarchy will never make that mistake again.

Wills Can marry Kate Because of Diana. Charles Had to marry a Protestant virgin of noble birth. Diana was a Lady . But we All know how it ended. so now Wills was free to marry for love. Kate and he have been going together for years. They lived together and Wills isn't her first Beau! This is as modern as the Royals can get. I'm here in the States. My taxes don't support them so it is far easier for me to love and root for the Royals.

Hi Sarah! I watched also the royal wedding. The very reason why I watched it firstly was out of curiosity. I was not yet born when Chales and Lady D, knot ties in 1981 so I opt to watch this so called "history in the making wedding". I love the Royal Choir and I love the simple ceremony that the Church of England has prepared for the the royal couple. I love it though. Simple yet meaningful! Shalom!

That's right, if they were Catholic , Mass would have been longer. i liked what was said about mastering and the lost of love. I know in this . Kate will not be ruled by William or visa versa. They were already true partners .At le3ast you have a good excuse for missing Charles and Diana, Me? I was alive And old enough to enjoy it but I missed it. I wasn't into the Royal wedding back then. the first Royal Wedding i saw was Andrew And Sarah five years later. and Then I was Edward and Sofie and Charles and Camilla. And now this one!

I will watch the Royal Wedding mainly for nostalgic reasons: it brings back memories of Lady Di and Prince Charles when I watched them do the nuptials. Back then, I was in high school and in watching it then, I came to realize the reason all the "hoopla" was being made about it was because of the special "presence and character" Diana possessed. Diana was loved! From the time I laid eyes on her, she outshone Charles from the get-go. Charles barely appeared on my radar. (Not knocking Charles here; I've never met him and don't know him....I'm just saying my eyes were only on Princess Diana, that's all!) And now "hoopla" is being made again because of William's own special 'presence and aura" which is so similar to his mother's. And both Wills and Kate appear to be very likeable to people; people relate to them. You look at them and its hard to imagine NOT liking them! If people abroad think the Royal family is snobbish and stuck up in their ways, like Diana, because Kate did not grow up in the Royal family/household, she was able to steal William's heart with her 'average' upbringing.....hers is more down to earth and homey. (And my guess is, that is practically non-existent in the Royal household! With the Royals, you get dressed even for breakfast....Kate's upbringing was more like ours.....come to breakfast in bathrobe and slippers, see?) I agree with some of you others: I think Diana would be proud of the bride her firstborn has chosen and if anybody was non-judgmental, it would have been her! I can just see her telling William whatever he does, marry ONLY for love! My greatest wish is that unlike Wills' parents marriage, his and Kate's lasts a lifetime! I think we watch these fairytale weddings in the great hope that 'something' CAN AND IS CAPABLE OF LASTING FOREVER! We all know, it's bad enough, few things do! The marriage of William and Catherine gives us all renewed hope in forever! Let's Amen to that!

They have a better chance than Charles and Diana did. First they are thre same age. Charles was about 18? !9 years older than Diana. Second they were friends first. Charles and Diana barely knew each other. And third is that the rules have been broken. Kate and Wills have been living together! They have been going together for 8 years. So they have a better chance at forever. I agree it is wonderful to see a loving couple have a glorious wedding. And it can send hope to others.

In fact I want to watch this royal wedding from TV. However, the May holiday is coming and actually yesterday afternoon we will go to my husband's hometown and we will be back on May 2nd at night. So we will miss the royal wedding. Perhaps I can watch it via the net later when I am back. Since there are no more chances to have the royal wedding, so I am interested in watching it. I love China

Oh no! I assume there will be a way to see the highlights of the wedding online. Don't feel bad, I could have seen Wills' parents marry but missed it. But I did get to see Andrew marry Sarah. So You will still have a chance, Harry may marry soon.

We totally have the same reasons. I am watching the wedding because it's part of the history. And also because the son of Princess Diana is getting married. I think that's cool. I also love weddings especially their love story is like a fairy tale. I love fairy tales. And beside, I am very interested in European history. I love seeing their weddings, the palaces, castles, you know. Things like that.

This has been a very popular topic as in to watch or not to watch. As for me, I will not be watching. I don't know the couple. I know of them, but I don't know them, and I don't have a personal interest in either of them. I've even been interested in the English History. I do think its amazing how they grew up, and i do hope for all the best for the prince and the future princess. But no I will not be turning in. I don't even know the time or the place.
