A report on a Blog reported that the Administration plans to issue an Executive Order that would require Contractors who Bid on Federal Projects to disclose all contributions made by the corporation to political parties or third party groups. This is already against Federal Law. What makes this dangerous is that this order also applies to the directors or officers, or any affiliates or subsidiaries within its control. Now the Corporation must look into the political views and activities of it's employees.
What is different about this Executive Order is it does not cover the Unions working with the contractors nor does it include those who receive Federal Grants. It does not include the Federal Employees Unions that negotiate with the Federal Government.

It should be noted that this is an attempt to over turn the Supreme Court case Citizens United v. FEC. This came before the Congress and was voted down, and the FEC refused to approve it. In the Court case the ruling applied to Corporations and Unions, while this Executive Order applies only to Corporations.
When the Courts, Congress and Federal Regulators (FEC) refuse to allow this, the only reason for the President to issue an Executive Order is to eliminate any opposition to him.
The purpose of the First Amendment was to insure Freedom of Speech specifically to keep Political speech free and open discussions. While the founding fathers did not consider technology, or changes in the economic structure, but they wanted to see that people had the right to speak out against the government.
How far will this administration go to stay in power?

Executive orders are meaningless. Only Congress can legislate, not the president.
Although most if not all president have issued executive orders, none of them are Constitutionally valid.
This will be knocked down at the Supreme Court, just as in the case of Citizens United.

That will take time and damage will be done. This President has shown that he will not follow the court rulings on Health Care so why should he follow one that tells him to stop doing something else.
Every news media should be outraged by this, what is stopping him from silencing them?

Your question How far will this administration go to stay in power? almost made me laugh, but I felt the need to cry instead. How far indeed? Why is it that so many Americans still see no problem with this? Why can this administration so blatantly stomp on our rights and it's ok? What are our elected officials doing to protect us? Not a damn thing. They need to hold Obama's feet to the fire. Make it blindingly clear that this is not ok. Go on every news network imaginable and point out what is happening. Every little issue I dont care if it is the brand of TP the White house uses. The clearly need to point out the issue and how it is unconstitutional. If they know.....
