If you want to sleep do you read books too? I mean reading it personally not like children having story telling thing by their moms. When I can't sleep I'll just get some book or any reading materials and after reading a paragraph or two I'm flat to bed. Words hypnotized me to close my eyes and enjoy dream land. Hahaha Funny.!

I can't go to sleep when I'm reading an interesting book. I get engrossed in the story and will stay up half the night to see how it ends. For this reason, I don't read at night.

I usually read books in the toilet while i am doing my number two business, since it distract my mind and relax by bowels and hence faster and better bowel movement to empty those intestines and colon. During early days of childhood when there is not text messaging and handphone and obviously not internet or even pc, yes i read books alot in the room, nice books that cause my mind to travel all around the world in their stories.

Sounds like books are laxatives too. LOL! Isn't that good? Books can help you maintain your regular bowel and it will help you prevent colon cancer. See how books are great aside from helping you have rest and sleep, it can also maintain your wellness. =)

Hehehe, it is similar to me. When I am reading historic books or other text books, I got sleepy and had very good sleep. But it is not same when I am reading some interesting books such as comic books, manga, novel...

haha I agree with that. I don't like reading books at all, I remember I used to fall asleep all the time when I had to read a book at school. I just can't concentrate onreading at all and fell asleep easily.

Hello there griecy07.. :)
So I guess you should be relieved now because you are not alone. :P
Books are really sleeping pills! :P I mean, not just books, but anything that is worthy reading type of material such as magazines and the likes. :)
Every night, I grab a book (most of the time) or some magazines and just read myself to sleep. :D The only books I don't wanna read are my Math and some school textbooks.
Hahaha. :D
Mostly I read English pocketbooks which sometimes makes me more awake, hahaha, making me want to finish the book at that very same night I started reading it. :P
I guess you also had this kind of a problem too. :)
Well now, I am reading a pocketbook, and this is my second time to read it again.
And of course, I'll probably read it later in bed to make me sleepy. :)

LOL. At least the books are healthier compared to sleeping pills and it is free! However, not all books serve the same purpose. Some books really keep me awake. Perhaps it is the interest in the book itself. I tend to doze off in minutes the moment I read technical or non-fiction books.

Well I would not really call them sleeping pills. The same general idea, but to call books sleeping pills would imply that they are boring. Which they are not, well some of them are, I'll grant you that one for sure. Still they do serve their purpose in getting you to sleep at night. It is a very relaxing thing and really can get you off to sleep rather quickly.
I mean, I think that I have really used books to help me drift off to bed pretty much every night for as long as I can remember. And they really do help allow me to relax a lot. It is a great time at night to curl up with an engaging book and just absorb it. It is a stress reliever as well, as it allows me to focus on not what happened today, whether good, bad, or indifferent, but rather relaxes me. There are times where I have gone to bed without reading and I might as well just have stayed awake.

That, i do too whenever i want to get sleepy. I would get the bible while lying down , with the lampshade on and read some verses in the bible. When i have read at least two pages, i would then get too sleepy that i couldn't understand what i am reading already.
Only then, will i put the bible back on the lampshade table and go to sleep.

I do not use book to drive me into slumber or sleeping. I just sleep the natural way. I do my work in the day time and I sleep in the night without the need to use a book.

I really laughed upon reading this. haha I remembered the time when I am still reviewing for my board exam. Reading is actually my sleeping pill. Whenever I read, few minutes later I'm starting to yawn and feel drowsy. Maybe people with insomnia should try this proven method. haha Thanks for making me laugh.

It's my pleasure to make you laugh, at least I made you happy for a while=). Oh, I also remember while reading a practice board examination questionnaire makes me feel sleepy too, does it also happened to you? Specially when you're already exhausted after how many set of exam then here comes another set, for sure you need to have not just a sip but a cup of coffee.

I am a blind person, so I do not read regular books but listen to the audio books. It works the same for me. I will usually listen to the short stories which are not too long, and when my sleepiness came up then it would be nice to sleep.
