It's sad... but I watch Stargate.
Losing myself in a good film or TV series for a little while is a great way to let the stress boil off. Forgetting the problem(s) for a little while can really put them in perspective.
Of course, it doesn't always work. Sometimes you just have to plough head-on into a problem and solve it - or at least move forward - to calm the feelings of anxiety. Such is life.

@spikethelobster: I couldn't agree more with you...I have always believed that we must be brave to face the circumstances head on...I am sure everyone knows Titanic, am I right? It is said that if Titanic does not dodge the iceberg, it will not sink...In case it hits the iceberg heads on, it will not be damaged and those 706 unlucky passengers will still be alive...
Just a point to ponder - if we dodge our all the way through life, will we be safe or end like Titanic as well?

I agree with you on that, you need to hit the problem head on or it will keep escalating and get you more stressed out.

Most experts say/agree that the absolute best way to handle stress is through exercise. You can burn energy and take out anger/stress on your activity/weights.
Running is one of the best ways to do this.
After a great workout, you feel great and very confident in yourself, which helps to deal with stress.
Also relaxtion, yoga, meditation, and stretching can be great to do the trick if you are stressed but low on energy also. :)
Best of luck in putting aside stress and hopefully things turn and go your way!!

@thewebguy: I believe the same way...For me, one of the best ways to handle stress is, yeah you said it, by doing some workouts...By burning out your energy, at least you don't have energy to get stress...
Nevertheless, by doing that, you will forget your problems for awhile, so it seems that it works well to relieve stress...However, stress is part and parcel of life and what we just need to do is to control it so that it will not control us...
@tammymarie37: Treadmill can be a good way as well, but I believe it is better for you to jog around the park in your place rather than just jogging on the treadmill...Other than the view that you can enjoy while you are jogging around, you can also get fresh air, which I believe can help you in your stress-killing process...Just my two cents, and good luck!

Yoga can be one of those exercise as well, although I personally don't prefer that...I would prefer more physical exercise like swimming or playing football...Nevertheless, everyone has its own preferences and we can do anything to relieve stress as long as that anything is not thinking about the stress itself...

Just one little bit at a time. There are times where stress can really get the best of us all. I find that more often than not, one of the root causes of stress can be the fact that we are trying to take too much onto our plates at one time. That is of course far from a very good thing and that can lead to a lot of the things that cause people to mentally and at some points if pushed to the point of a physical breakdown. Things can get rather ugly.
I just try and take a deep breath and try and figure out what is causing me the most problems. What is causing me to be stressed back. If I have to back off from everyone and isolate myself, then so be it. I am going to really just to just sit back and take everything one step at a time. Trying to really take everything and relax my tensions a little bit. Easier said than done but that's just the way things go sometimes. The best advice I can is to just sit back, stop what you're doing and make a list of things that need to get done, before doing them. The stress has less time to build up.

Stress had been a big part of my life. I have learned/am still learning that the only way I can deal with it at times is like you closing out the world and being completely alone to simmer down. I do live across the street from a beautiful park in which I do like to take walks often just to get out and think calmly.
I also own a stationary bike in which I do use daily and I like that I can listen to music built in it where I can put some head phones on and go with the beat.
I hope you get find some breathing times.

@hardworkinggurl: What a life you have gone through, for stress has been a big part of your life...Sometimes being alone and closing the world out can be effective although it is not necessarily applicable to all people...As for me, I am just like you - being alone makes me feel better when I am stressful...Sometimes I take a walk at night and look at the sky...I believe that heals me better than anything else in the world...
@tammymarie37: Indeed it is not easy, but I believe nothing is impossible in this world, except things meant by God to be impossible...Relax is something you cannot force out of your mind and body - it must be from the inside...Clear your minds and loosen your body - that is my way how to relax myself...

I can't handle with stress most of the times, I need just not to think in anything, and the only way to do this is sleeping. I take a warm bath to sleep better and to the bed a few hours. I need to turn me off to handle with stress, so then, when I wakeup I'm a bit better.

@millefeuille: I did that as well! For me, sleeping will be my number one way to relieve stress...It is simply relieving and mind-relaxing, isn't it? Plus, you can get enough rest for your body and more importantly some rest for your mind...Stress is all about mind, and if you can get your mind over it, stress can be relieved easily...
Nevertheless, every problem has its solution...Don't stress out just because of small things because the life has more to offer than those small things...

@stary1: Whoa! What an impressive way to relieve stress! I believe you can relieve stress as long as you can ensure that your brain receive enough blood supply...Blood is important for your brain because every brain functions need enough blood supply, and for that very reason anything that can induce that blood flow can be very good for relieving stress...
Dancing can be a good way to do that in my opinion...Just do not overdo it, or else you will end up needing more blood at your feet as well... Happy myLotting!

I think stress is my middle name LOL
I now deal with stress by either watching a movie, reading a good book, or crafting.
Seems to take my mind off the situation.
I will also go for a walk on our bay or beach.
the best way I can see to relieve stress is to take yourself out of the situation for a bit.
Getting your mind on something else is a wonderful distraction.
Listen to your favorite song, take a walk, just embrace life and you will at least find a bit of peace for awhile.
then maybe the stress will find itself lesser than you thought.

How do I handle stress? Well I take myself out of the stressful situation to resolve the problems. For instance if its my mom stressing me over something I would just have to take myself out of the situation, leave, cool off and come back. I think its important to be alone while you are stressing. It gives you time to clear your head, think about the next step and you can let out your frustration. Try screaming to the top of your lungs. Go out for icecream, do something you can enjoy. This is how I get through stressful moments.

*points up to SpikeTheLobster's response* Pretty much that. =P
Keeping my mind off the problem is one way. And to do that I try to keep my mind occupied by other things. For me, it's usually by listening to music and maybe even singing along. Or sometimes I go play some games or puzzles.
Sometimes, however, you have to go and deal with the problem and find a solution for it so you won't stress over it anymore.

@lovebugjess: As for me, I prefer sleeping over anything else as well when it comes to relieving stress...For me, I need mind peace and tranquility when I am stress, and for that it is better for me to off the real world for some time and dream... I will just put my head on bed and lights off...No milk, though!

I usually take a long walk by myself I find it so relaxing and it helps me get rid of some stress I work in a very stressful work environment so that short walk is my time to release all the negative stress caused by work ..if I dont take my short walks I guarantee I will kill someone at home which is not fair to them as they have nothing to do with my stress well not always :-)

well, nothing beats sleeping as stress reliever for me. At times, I go out with friends, go somewhere peaceful and quite and have a nice talk. However, usually, I just stay at home and give myself some time to rest.

what is rest lol. Seems like i don't get enough rest, maybe that could be one of the big problems why I am so stressed out. Plus it seems life for me lately has been one worldwind after another.
